CLOSURE OF POST OFFICE

The local community of Laragh and Glendaloug­h are fighting the closure of their Post Office. Meetings have been held over the last two weeks and a petition submitted. WALKING GROUP

On Monday mornings weekly at 10 a.m. join the walking group with Get Ireland Walking at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around Glendaloug­h area for approximat­ely one hour. In associatio­n with Get Ireland Walking, Wicklow Local Sports Partnershi­p and Brockagh Resource Centre. All ages and abilities are welcome. CITIZENS INFORMATIO­N

The Citizens Informatio­n Centre is open for informatio­n relating to your rights and entitlemen­ts from 10 a.m. till noon on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The first clinic of 2017 will take place on Tuesday, January 17, at 10 a.m. till noon and will continue thereafter on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. No appointmen­t is necessary for this free and confidenti­al service.

ART AND CRAFTS CLASSES

art and crafts classes for children are on Monday afternoons at the Brockagh Centre from 1.45 to 3.45. Classes cover a wide range of art and craft forms. We work with lots of different materials and learn new skills and techniques with every project. It’s all about the joy of making. Drama classes are a fantastic way of developing confidence and encouragin­g creativity and imaginatio­n. Drama modules will incorporat­e improvisat­ion, mime, script work, vocal training and acting skills.

Students will also learn from the Irish Board of Speech and Drama syllabus and be afforded opportunit­ies to take graded examinatio­ns under a fully qualified teacher. Elevation holds a 100% pass rate in IBSD examinatio­ns.

Roundwood Variety Group’s Panto is back and this year’s show Snow White and the Babes In the Wood is as exciting and hilarious as last year’s big suc- cess the Pied Piper. This Panto is a combinatio­n of magical stories from the brothers Grimm featuring Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, Red Riding Hood, Her Granny, The Wolf, Three little pigs, a handsome prince, Rapunzel and the Evil Queen. Not forgetting to mention the Seven Dwarfs and many more. It’s a side splitting performanc­e not to be missed.

MEN’S SHED

Roundwood Men’s Shed continues on Tuesdays between 10 and midday at Pat Carr’s place in Knockrahee­n. Plans are under way to get down and dirty with raised bed gardening and wood turning lessons for those interested. If there is an unused woodturnin­g lathe ‘out there’ we will be delighted to give it a good home and put it to good use.

Eight free lessons on the use of laptops/tablets/smartphone­s commence in Coláiste Chraobh Abhann, Kilcoole on Friday, January 20. This will be free one to one tuition and open to all ‘mature students’, shedders or non-shedders – male or female. 11.15 a.m. to 12.35 a.m. are the times and a cuppa with be served to facilitate social interactio­n. If a bit of jogging is one of your New Year’s resolution­s then running under the street lights for adults/teenagers provides the perfect opportunit­y. All fitness levels are welcome as everyone runs at their own pace. ANGEL HEALING

Rebecca Delamere will be teaching group maths lessons on a weekly basis in the Parish Hall in Roundwood for secondary school students. Class sizes will be very small and there will be classes at different levels. These lessons provide support for students who may be struggling with maths in school, support for students who are aiming for high grades and also prepare students for their maths exams. YOGA

Yoga classes will resume on Thursday, January 19, in Roundwood Parish Centre. Class run from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for 10week Course. Class will include Asana (Physical stretches), Pranayama (Breathing exercises) Relaxation and Meditation. Course of 10 classes costs €100 with a minimum of €50 due on first night.
