Take a moonlight stroll to help two worthy causes
FALL IN love with Wicklow this Valentine’s weekend with a moonlight walk around the beautiful Vartry Reservoir in Roundwood.
Wicklow Hospice Foundation and the Vartry Walks Project have teamed up to organise this fundraising 10km walk around the reservoir on Saturday, February 11.
The route is mostly flat and will be on a walking trail with some parts on footpath and road. A clear night should make the evening extra special and result in some stunning views of the area as there is due to be a full moon.
The walk is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and sign-in will begin at Kavanagh’s Vartry House in Roundwood at 5.30 p.m.
The cost of taking part is €20 per adult or €40 for a family and registration is now open online at www.athleticstiming.com.
Participants who have registered can also opt to raise additional funds by taking a sponsorship card; contact Shay Cullen on 087 2347676 to arrange for a card to be sent out. Anyone who brings their sponsorship card with them to the walk will be entered into a prize draw.
Anyone taking part in the walk is asked to wear warm and weatherproof clothing plus footwear suitable for trail walking. They should also wear a high-viz vest and bring along their own drinking water and a torch, as most of the route is not lit.
Dogs are permitted on the walk but must be kept on a lead at all times.
Refreshments will be available afterwards in Kavanagh’s Vartry House.
