Vintage car club dates

Excited locals of the garden of Ireland Vintage Car Club are eagerly awaiting an action packed list of events for 2017. The season will start with a Treasure Hunt on Sunday, February 12, leaving the Grove Bar at 11.30 a.m. and the club look forward to seeing as many members as possible on the day for the first outing. The members are most grateful to Dinny Doyle for his support and the continued use of his premises for their meetings and social events.

Plans are also well in advance for the two major events of the year namely the annual Tom Kennedy Memorial Show which will take place in Ashford on July 9, the proceeds of which are donated to St Ann’s Oncology Ward, St Vincent’s University Hospital. Both the club and Tom’s family are sincerely grateful to Eugene and Margaret Stevens for the use of their field for this event over the past four years, in excess of €10,000 has been raised to date.

The ever popular annual Liam Kelly Memorial Run will take place on the weekend of September 9 and 10. The weekend will commence with a welcome reception and refreshments at the Grove Bar on Friday, September 1, this will be followed by the run on Saturday the second starting at the Summerhill Hotel, Enniskerry at 11.30 a.m., Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available prior to the start of the run. The club is looking forward to welcoming a visiting group from Germany and are currently working with other European and UK clubs who have expressed an interest in attending.

The next club meeting will be held in the Grove Bar on Monday, February 20, at 9 p.m. when registrations will be taken for the coming year. New members welcome, whether you have a car or not.
