Commiserations to the Senior camogie team who were narrowly defeated on a scoreline of 4-6 to 4-4 by St Kevin’s in the semi-final last week. Many thanks to the sixth year members who played in their final game representing the school and we wish them well in their future camogie endeavours.

Congratulations to Hyrum Scott, Lucy Shortt and Sophie Heaton, who are now through to the third round of the Wicklow Debates. They put in an excellent performance last Thursday to secure another win for the school. Well done.

Well done to the students who represented the school exceptionally well last week at the East Leinster Schools Cross Country event. Congratulations to Troy Scully and Eve Leacy, who were place fourth and third in their respective races and thus comfortably qualifying for the Leinster competition.

Unfortunately, the Senior Boys Gaelic Football team bowed out of the Leinster Competition on Monday last after being defeated by Coláiste Eoin Hacketstown on a scoreline of 5-15 to 3-13. It was a tight affair throughout, and while it looked like CCA had the upper hand coming into the last 15 minutes, Hacketstown managed to finish the stronger of the two teams and scored some vital goals. CCA will now concentrate on the Wicklow Senior schools competition.

The school is currently organising a sponsored cycle which will take place on Friday, April 28. The 50km cycle will see teachers and students leaving from Kilcoole and going as far north as Kilmacanogue and as far south as Rathnew before returning to the school.

We look forward to welcoming all fifth year students and their parents and guardians to the PTS meeting tomorrow, Thursday, February 2, at 4.15 p.m. Students are beginning to look at their options for third level, and set targets for sixth year. All fifth year students will meet with their mentor teacher to discuss their third level aspirations as part of the evening. Classes for all students will finish at 3.30 p.m. to facilitate this meeting.

The cast and crew of this year’s CCA musical are hard at work rehearsing for the show, which takes place in March. Please contact the Mermaid Arts Centre to enquire about tickets at 01 272 4030 for the show, which will run from Wednesday, March 8, to Friday, March 10, inclusive.
