Bag-snatch vic­tim suf­fers a bro­ken hip

The bank hol­i­day week­end took a trau­matic turn for an el­derly Bray woman who had to be treated for a bro­ken hip af­ter she was tar­geted by a cal­lous bag snatcher.

The crime vic­tim sus­tained the painful in­jury af­ter she was pushed to the ground by a lone at­tacker dur­ing an un­suc­cess­ful at­tempt to steal her hand­bag.

Ac­cord­ing to lo­cal gar­dai, the woman (who is in her 70s) was walk­ing along Meath Road at around 4.35 p.m. last Satur­day when she was ap­proached by a young man aged be­tween 18 and 20 years.

He at­tempted to snatch the bag, but a strug­gle de­vel­oped as she at­tempted to hold on, dur­ing which she was pushed to the ground.

The rob­ber gave up on his at­tempt when a passer by in­ter­vened by com­ing to the as­sis­tance of the el­derly woman.

She was re­moved to hos­pi­tal where she was treated for a bro­ken hip and other in­juries.
