Con­grat­u­la­tions to all in­volved with Wicklow county ladies on a solid per­for­mance in Bless­ing­ton against near neigh­bours Car­low on Sun­day win­ning 5-20 to 0-03 hav­ing led at half time 1-14 to 0-00. Well done to our own Ni­amh McGet­ti­gan (Vice Cap­tain) and Mick Ka­vanagh who is part of the man­age­ment team.

It was not to be for the county hurlers in this year’s Bord na Móna Ke­hoe Cup Fi­nal against Maynooth Univer­sity in Pearse Park Ark­low on Sun­day as it fin­ished 1-23 to 2-11. Com­mis­er­a­tions to our own lads Eoghan O’Ma­hony, John Con­nors, Andy O’Brien, George O’Brien, Gerry Con­nors, Michael Con­nors, Christy Moorehouse and coach Michael Neary who can now get ready for the Na­tional Hurl­ing League.

A poor start to the open­ing Al­lianz Foot­ball League Di­vi­sion 4 game against Leitrim on Sun­day at Joule Park Aughrim for Johnny Magee’s Wicklow.

Leitrim scored a goal af­ter 45 sec­onds but Wicklow re­sponded well and were be­hind at half time on a score­line of 1-10 to 07. Fi­nal score 1-17 to 0-10 to Leitrim.

Next up a tough away trip on Satur­day 11th Fe­bru­ary to Fra­her Field, Water­ford for a 7pm throw in for our County se­nior lads Dean Healy, Tommy Kelly, John Crowe and Connor Ffrench.

Best of luck to ladies sec­re­tary Stephen McNulty who heads to Dubai on Wed­nes­day to ref­eree the Mid­dle East LGFA Games. Un­for­tu­nately he’s not bring­ing his as­sis­tants.

From Jan­uary 1st 2017, mouth guards will be manda­tory for all adult ladies foot­ballers. OPRO have come on-board with the WGPA to sup­ply mouth guards to all its mem­bers who play Ladies Foot­ball.

On Jan­uary 9, the Club Play­ers As­so­ci­a­tion (CPA) was of­fi­cially launched in Bally­bo­den St. En­das, the home of the club foot­ball cham­pi­ons.

Paddy Byrne, of Ballymanus GFC, has been nom­i­nated as the ‘Wicklow Club Rep­re­sen­ta­tive’, the role in­volves get­ting as many club peo­ple reg­is­tered while also keep­ing clubs up­dated on pro­gres­sion of the CPA’s ob­jec­tives.

The County Fi­nal of the Scór Sin­sear (Se­nior/O.17) Per­for­mance and Quiz com­pe­ti­tion will take place in St Patrick’s GAA club­house on Fri­day 3rd March.

The Per­for­mance (Ceili Danc­ing, Set Danc­ing, In­stru­men­tal Groups, Bal­lad Groups, Recita­tion, Sketch/Dra­matic Group Act and Solo Singing) Fi­nal will com­mence at 8pm with the Quiz Fi­nal be­gin­ning at 9pm.

Some­time ago Uachtaran CLG, Aoghan O Fearghail es­tab­lished the 150 Com­mit­tee. The 150 Com­mit­tee’s brief is to pre­pare for the As­so­ci­a­tion’s 150th An­niver­sary in 2034 and as to what the GAA may be like in 2034.

The Com­mit­tee is sched­ul­ing a meet­ing in each of the Prov­inces. The Le­in­ster meet­ing (Fo­cus Group) is sched­uled for Tues­day 21st Fe­bru­ary at 7.00p.m. in Aras Laighean.

St. Pa­tricks GAA Club have launched the 2017 ver­sion of our Last Man Stand­ing fundrais­ing com­pe­ti­tion for our club. We lost 96 peo­ple mainly due to Derry not win­ning at home against Clare; 50 peo­ple had cho­sen Derry. In ad­di­tion Ca­van, Mayo, Meath, Gal­way and Roscom­mon all failed to win.

St Pa­tricks GAA Club have dis­trib­uted the GAA Na­tional Club Draw tick­ets for 2017. Tick­ets are €10 each and there are some fan­tas­tic prizes on of­fer. The draw will take place on 8th March 2017 in Croke Park. It is a great way to sup­port your lo­cal club.

We had no jack­pot win­ners in our Club Lotto this week! Num­bers drawn were 18, 23, 25 and 30. The bonus num­ber was 07. We had no Match three win­ners.
