PLOUGH­ING MATCH

Round­wood Plough­ing So­ci­ety are hold­ing their an­nual plough­ing match on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 25, at mid­day in Di­a­mond Hill, Round­wood (reser­voir fil­ter­ing beds). Sin­cere thanks to John Byrne for pro­vid­ing the site. Con­ven­tional, vin­tage, Clas­sic Trac­tor and Horse Classes will be catered for on Lea ground. Could all com­peti­tors please have their names reg­is­tered be­fore 6 p.m. on Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 22, with Bren­dan Power at 087 2420204. Spec­ta­tors as al­ways are very wel­come and we have a chip van on site for the day

PAN­CAKE/COF­FEE MORN­ING

Keep Shrove Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 28, free for a spe­cial fundrais­ing Cof­fee/pan­cake morn­ing in Round­wood Par­ish Cen­tre start­ing at 9.15 a.m. A young boy from the vil­lage has been di­ag­nosed with can­cer and we would like to pro­vide a lit­tle ex­tra com­fort to him and his fam­ily. ART CLASSES

Round­wood and Dis­trict Com­mu­nity Coun­cil with the sup­port of Kil­dare Wicklow Ed­u­ca­tion Train­ing Board are run­ning an eight-week art class in Round­wood Par­ish Hall start­ing in early Fe­bru­ary. KNOCK PIL­GRIM­AGE

A pil­grim­age to Knock will take place on Sun­day, April 23, leav­ing Laragh at 7.30 a.m. and Round­wood at 8 a.m.. Break­fast, din­ner and bus is €60 per per­son. LADIES GAA. TRAIN­ING

LUNCH CLUB

ITALY TRIP

LOTTO RE­SULTS

There was no jack­pot winner in last week’s lotto draw. The num­bers drawn were 9, 12, 27 and 29. There were three matchthree win­ners, Caro­line DeSousa, SR Ka­vanagh and Gary Kin­sella. Next week’s jack­pot will be €11,200.

ATH­LET­ICS CLUB

Want to get fit/fit­ter for 2017? Come take part in Round­wood and Dis­trict Ath­letic clubs Jog­ging/run­ning at the GAA pitch every Tues­day at 6.30 p.m., at the Coach House every Thurs­day at 7 p.m. (run­ning un­der lights in the vil­lage) and at 10 a.m. on Sun­days at the Vartry Dam. Be- gin­ners and ex­pe­ri­enced run­ners all wel­come.

Set a goal of 10K for Easter or 5K for St Pa­trick’s Day, you de­cide. We’ll help you reach your goal so layer up in warm comfy gear and come along.

CEILI FIG­URE DANC­ING

Any adults in­ter­est­ing in re­liv­ing their youth when we all learned to Ceili dance? There are Ceili danc­ing lessons in the Par­ish Hall in Round­wood on Wed­nes­day nights start­ing at 8 p.m. for an hour. The next meet­ing for res­i­dents and any­one in­ter­ested in the Bal­ty­nan­ima Pure Mile will take place at 7.30 p.m. on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 20, at 7.30 p.m. in Round­wood Par­ish Hall.

MEN’S SHED

Meet­ings/Ac­tiv­i­ties con­tinue on Tues­days in Knock­ra­heen at Pat Carr’s place from 10 a.m. to mid­day. Prepa­ra­tions are un­der way for veg­etable grow­ing in raised beds – dou­ble or sin­gle. So come along and book your free bed. ‘To­gether we will make them grow’.

Bee­keep­ing is on the agenda and wood turn­ing has com­menced and if you have any ex­per­tise/ex­pe­ri­ence in ei­ther area your help and guid­ance will be ap­pre­ci­ated.

Shed mem­bers vol­un­teered re­cently to help erect a wooden back­drop to the 1916 com­mem­o­ra­tive me­mo­rial in the vil­lage. The work was un­der­taken and com­pleted un­der the stew­ard­ship of Colm, one of the SHEDDERS.

The one to one phone/lap­top/tablet tu­ition classes are still on­go­ing in Coláiste Chraobh Ab­hann on Fri­days – 11.15 to 12.30. Un­like nor­mal school, the ma­ture stu­dents are learn­ing to text and mail dur­ing class and the young help­ful, pa­tient, tol­er­ant tran­si­tion year stu­dents are very un­der­stand­ing. A search is un­der way to find an APP to help us ma­ture stu­dents to re­mem­ber what we are learn­ing. There are no classes on Fe­bru­ary 17 and 24 but classes will re­sume again on Fri­day, March 3. Shedders and non-shedders – male or fe­male are wel­come to at­tend and it is not too late to join in and at­tend the re­main­ing classes. AN­GEL HEAL­ING

Why not take two hours out of your week just for you and join us on a Mon­day evening at 7.30 in the Par­ish Hall, Round­wood. Here you will be part of a group who know that look­ing af­ter their well be­ing is so im­por­tant. You will learn how to med­i­tate and be still. To con­nect to your An­gels and be sup­ported by the won­der­ful peo­ple who have at­tended this group in Round­wood for 13 years. SET DANC­ING

Round­wood set danc­ing con­tin­ues every Thurs­day night from 9 p.m. till 11 p.m. in Ka­vanagh’s Lounge, Round­wood. Mu­sic this month is CDs and we will have the O’Kane Fam­ily back play­ing for us again in March and then live mu­sic for the re­main­der of the year. Ad­mis­sion re­mains at €5. Be­gin­ners are al­ways wel­come along with any­one look­ing for a bit of ex­er­cise and a fun night out. We are also do­ing a bit of jiv­ing, waltz­ing and quick step be­fore our weekly ses­sions start­ing at 8.15 p.m. so any­one want­ing to give that a go, is more than wel­come. No ad­di­tional charge.
