Concert in Kil­ter­nan: On Fri­day evening the award win­ning Cap­pella Mixed Voice Choir, Mu­si­cal Di­rec­tor Vincent Whe­lan, Ac­com­pa­nist Ce­line Kelly, will give a Concert of Cho­ral Music to suit all tastes at 8 p.m. in Kil­ter­nan Parish Church. Re­source Cen­tre Hours: St Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Mon­day to Thurs­day and on Fri­day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those re­quir­ing Bap­tism/Con­fir­ma­tion cer­tifi­cates or ap­pli­ca­tion forms for bap­tism can ob­tain them dur­ing the above hours. Please note that the Parish Of­fice is the only place where cer­tifi­cates and ap­pli­ca­tion forms can be pro­cessed.

Mass Times: Mass is cel­e­brated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Mon­day to Fri­day (ex­cept Au­gust and Septem­ber). Week­end Mass times are Satur­day 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sun­day at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Fam­ily Mass), mid­day, and 6 p.m. Con­fes­sions are heard on Satur­days af­ter the 10 a.m. Mass, be­tween 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and af­ter the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broad­cast on­line and can be viewed by log­ging onto the parish web­site: stannes­parishshankill.com and then click­ing onto video link.

St Pa­trick’s Chapel, Lough­lin­stown: The cel­e­bra­tion of the Sun­day 9 a.m. Mass has now ceased in the chapel and will not re­sume till later this year when es­sen­tial main­te­nance has been com­pleted.

Bap­tism Times: Bap­tisms take place in St Anne’s Church at 1 p.m. on the first Sun­day of the month and at 5 p.m. on the sec­ond and fourth Satur­days of the month. A month’s no­tice is re­quired. Please con­tact the St Anne’s Parish Of­fice lo­cated in St Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre to make your ar­range­ments. Please note that when vis­it­ing the Parish Of­fice to ar­range a bap­tism, the child’s birth cer­tifi­cate should be brought as it nec­es­sary to pho­to­copy it for the parish records but it will be re­turned im­me­di­ately.

Pre-Bap­tism Meet­ings: Pre-Bap­tism Meet­ings are held on the last Thurs­day of ev­ery month for par­ents pre­sent­ing their chil­dren for bap­tism the fol­low­ing month. The next meet­ing will be held to­mor­row night (Thurs­day) in St Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre at 8 p.m. for all par­ents whose chil­dren are be­ing Bap­tised in March.

Room Hire – St Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre: At present we have avail­abil­ity in the cen­tre for room hire. If you are in­ter­ested in run­ning your class or course please con­tact Melissa Tobin at 01 2822777 for fur­ther in­for­ma­tion. Fa­cil­i­ties in­clude Free car park, tea or cof­fee, Use of white­board and pro­jec­tor, Flipchart Stands. Three rooms avail­able with ca­pac­ity for 80 peo­ple, 25 peo­ple, or 15 peo­ple.

Ado­ra­tion of the Most Blessed Sacra­ment: The UAC hold Ado­ra­tion of the Blessed Sacra­ment from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 22nd of each month. This is a world­wide ini­tia­tive by the Pal­lot­tine Fam­ily to pray for vo­ca­tions to the Pri­est­hood and the Re­li­gious Life. Please join in prayer with the Pal­lot­tine Union of Catholic Apos­to­late to pray for vo­ca­tions to the pri­est­hood and re­li­gious life. Bethany Be­reave­ment Sup­port Group: The Bethany Be­reave­ment Sup­port Group of­fers a safe and con­fi­den­tial en­vi­ron­ment for lis­ten­ing and shar­ing with each other. Bethany Be­reave­ment Sup­port Group are run­ning a five-week sup­port pro­gramme on Mon­day evenings, from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. from this com­ing Mon­day to Mon­day, March 27,. If you are feel­ing the pain of any loss, this series of meet­ings may offer sup­port and con­so­la­tion in a place where heal­ing can be­gin. Cake Sale – Sun­day, March 5: The Mum’s from the Fam­ily Mass Liturgy Group will be hold­ing a cake bake sale and would wel­come any home baked cakes and bis­cuits to be brought in to St Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre on that morn­ing be­fore 10.30 a.m. Mass. All pro­ceeds will go to­wards a much-needed new cooker in St Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre as the one we have at present is no longer func­tion­ing. Thank you in ad­vance.

Mag­ni­fi­cat Prayer Book: The March copy of the Mag­ni­fi­cat Prayer Book is avail­able in he parish of­fice for €5. It con­tains the read­ings and prayers for daily Mass. It also con­tains med­i­ta­tions, lives of the Saints, prayer for Morn­ing and Evening, based on the Liturgy of the Hours. Please let us know in the Parish Of­fice if you would like us to re­serve a copy each month for you.

Youth 2000 – Meet­ing for Youth: We in­vite all 16- to 35-yearolds to come to the church ev­ery Thurs­day from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. to gather for a time of Ado­ra­tion, prayer, music, re­flec­tion and fel­low­ship. Ap­peal For Ador­ers. Did you know that our Blessed Sacra­ment Ado­ra­tion Chapel is open Mon­day to Fri­day from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and also from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. At present, we are ap­peal­ing for peo­ple to ‘watch one hour’ with the Lord. There will be a book in the Chapel for you to sign in. If there is no one present when you have to leave the Chapel, we ask that you close over the taber­na­cle doors.

Al­tar So­ci­ety: The Al­tar So­ci­ety com­prises of parish­ioners who pre­pare and ar­range flo­ral dis­plays for the church each week, work­ing ei­ther singly or in pairs. The use of fresh flow­ers en­hances the church space es­pe­cially the sanc­tu­ary, and th­ese flo­ral dis­plays also help to re­flect the chang­ing Sea­sons of both the cal­en­dar year and the church’s year. If you are in­ter­ested in join­ing the Al­tar So­ci­ety please call into the Parish Of­fice.

Va­can­cies: We presently, have va­can­cies on our Com­mu­nity Em­ploy­ment Project for an Of­fice Ad­min­is­tra­tor/Re­cep­tion­ist and a Care­taker/Ground’s Per­son. The Al­tar So­ci­ety: The Al­tar So­ci­ety cur­rently has only three mem­bers look­ing af­ter the flow­ers for St Anne’s Church. We need more peo­ple to help with flower ar­rang­ing. If you are in- ter­ested and have a few hours to spare, please con­tact the Parish Of­fice.

Sug­ges­tion Box: We now have a Sug­ges­tion Box in the church. We wel­come sug­ges­tions/Com­ments/ideas you may have with re­gard to im­prov­ing our Parish Com­mu­nity. Th­ese sug­ges­tions will be brought to the Pas­toral Coun­cil Meet­ings which are held monthly.

The Shankill Ac­tive Re­tire­ment As­so­ci­a­tion (SARA) meets at 3 p.m. on the third Mon­day of the month in St Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre. New mem­bers al­ways wel­come. The Fe­bru­ary meet­ing was held last Mon­day af­ter­noon in St Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre.

BOOK SALE

The March First Satur­day Book Sale, which sup­ports the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion and Meals on Wheels, will take place in the Shankill Old Folks Cen­tre, Lower Road, Shankill, on Satur­day, March 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. so make a point of call­ing into the book sale on that Satur­day morn­ing and avail of the op­por­tu­nity to pick up some ex­cel­lent read­ing ma­te­rial for the Spring. Do­na­tions of books, other than school/text books, ac­cepted on the day.

SHANKILL LI­BRARY

Open­ing hours for Shankill Li- brary are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mon­days and Wed­nes­days and on al­ter­nate Fri­days and Satur­days – the li­brary will be open this Fri­day but closed on Satur­day. On Wed­nes­day, March 1, Ms. Theresa Hicks will present her lec­ture ‘The Kennedys of Mount Kennedy’ to the Rath­michael His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety, the lo­cal his­tory so­ci­ety for Shankill, Bally­brack and sur­round­ing area, in Rath­michael School, Stone­bridge Road (Dublin Road end), Shankill, Co.Dublin. All wel­come – ad­mis­sion €4.

In the mean­time mem­bers of the Rath­michael His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety are in­vited to at­tend tonight’s (Wed­nes­day) 6 p.m. meet­ing of the Old Dublin So­ci­ety, the lo­cal his­tory so­ci­ety for Dublin City and county, in the Con­fer­ence Room of Dublin City Li­brary and Ar­chive, 138 – 144 Pearse Street, Dublin two, at which Gre­gory Young will present his lec­ture ‘Fran­cis Smyth and Sons, um­brella man­u­fac­tur­ers, Dublin, 1836-1967’. ICA GUILD

The guild meets on the sec­ond Mon­day of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre. Craft Morn­ing takes place in St Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre on Tues­day morn­ings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.

SHANKILL GAA CLUB

The next club de­vel­op­ment lotto draw will be held to­mor­row (Thurs­day) in Brady’s pub. Tick­ets are €2 each or three for €5. Our Academy is back in ac­tion ev­ery Satur­day at 10 a.m. in St Lau­rence’s col­lege. Cost is €2 per child, there is no an­nual sub­scrip­tion and all equip­ment is pro­vided free of charge.

All of our teams are now back in train­ing at 11 a.m. also in St Lau­rence’s col­lege. Sam Maguire was in Shankill and vis­ited all of our schools a big thank you to the teach­ers and staff for all their help.

Many thanks to all who turned out to our re­cent AGM – there was a great crowd in at­ten­dance.
