Alpha/In-Between Book: Last Night (Tuesday) Ms. Sonia Appelbe hosted the February meeting at which the book selected at the January meeting was discussed and reviewed and the book selected for the March meeting.

Concert in Kilternan: On Friday evening the award winning Cappella Mixed Voice Choir, Musical Director Vincent Whelan, Accompanis­t Celine Kelly, will give a Concert of Choral Music to suit all tastes at 8 p.m. in Kilternan Parish Church. Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmati­on certificat­es or applicatio­n forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the Parish Office is the only place where certificat­es and applicatio­n forms can be processed.

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confession­s are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannespar­ishshankil­l.com and then clicking onto video link.

St Patrick’s Chapel, Loughlinst­own: The celebratio­n of the Sunday 9 a.m. Mass has now ceased in the chapel and will not resume till later this year when essential maintenanc­e has been completed.

Baptism Times: Baptisms take place in St Anne’s Church at 1 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month and at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. A month’s notice is required. Please contact the St Anne’s Parish Office located in St Anne’s Resource Centre to make your arrangemen­ts. Please note that when visiting the Parish Office to arrange a baptism, the child’s birth certificat­e should be brought as it necessary to photocopy it for the parish records but it will be returned immediatel­y.

Pre-Baptism Meetings: Pre-Baptism Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month for parents presenting their children for baptism the following month. The next meeting will be held tomorrow night (Thursday) in St Anne’s Resource Centre at 8 p.m. for all parents whose children are being Baptised in March.

Room Hire – St Anne’s Resource Centre: At present we have availabili­ty in the centre for room hire. If you are interested in running your class or course please contact Melissa Tobin at 01 2822777 for further informatio­n. Facilities include Free car park, tea or coffee, Use of whiteboard and projector, Flipchart Stands. Three rooms available with capacity for 80 people, 25 people, or 15 people.

Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament: The UAC hold Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 22nd of each month. This is a worldwide initiative by the Pallottine Family to pray for vocations to the Priesthood and the Religious Life. Please join in prayer with the Pallottine Union of Catholic Apostolate to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. For further informatio­n contact Pat Maguire at 087 7532780. The next Holy Hour for Vocations takes place tonight (Wednesday) immediatel­y following the 7.30 a.m. Mass.

Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group: The Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group offers a safe and confidenti­al environmen­t for listening and sharing with each other. Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group are running a five-week support programme on Monday evenings, from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. from this coming Monday to Monday, March 27,. If you are feeling the pain of any loss, this series of meetings may offer support and consolatio­n in a place where healing can begin. Life in the Holy Spirit – Praise, Talk, Discussion: Learn more about how you can allow God to work in your life in St Anne’s Resource Centre, Shankill, every Tuesday at 8 p.m. from this coming Tuesday till April 11. Starts on Tuesday, February 28, with: St Vincent de Paul Diocesan Collection: Will be held this Saturday and Sunday and will replace the Share Collection. Thank you for your support.

Cake Sale – Sunday, March 5: The Mum’s from the Family Mass Liturgy Group will be holding a cake bake sale and would welcome any home baked cakes and biscuits to be brought in to St Anne’s Resource Centre on that morning before 10.30 a.m. Mass. All proceeds will go towards a much-needed new cooker in St Anne’s Resource Centre as the one we have at present is no longer functionin­g. Thank you in advance.

February Film Night: This takes place this Saturday in St Anne’s Resource Centre at 8 p.m. – doors open at 7.30 p.m. The film being screened will be Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstei­n’s ‘Showboat’, an MGM Musical Treasure starring Howard Keel, Kathryn Grayson and Ava Gardner. Admission free.

Magnificat Prayer Book: The March copy of the Magnificat Prayer Book is available in he parish office for €5. It contains the readings and prayers for daily Mass. It also contains meditation­s, lives of the Saints, prayer for Morning and Evening, based on the Liturgy of the Hours. Please let us know in the Parish Office if you would like us to reserve a copy each month for you.

Youth 2000 – Meeting for Youth: We invite all 16- to 35-yearolds to come to the church every Thursday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. to gather for a time of Adoration, prayer, music, reflection and fellowship. Followed by a cup of tea and social from 9 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. youth2000.ie.

Hospitalit­y: Hospitalit­y takes place after 10.30 a.m. Mass on the second and fourth Sunday of each month in St Anne’s Resource Centre.

Appeal For Adorers. Did you know that our Blessed Sacrament Adoration Chapel is open Monday to Friday from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and also from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. At present, we are appealing for people to ‘watch one hour’ with the Lord. There will be a book in the Chapel for you to sign in. If there is no one present when you have to leave the Chapel, we ask that you close over the tabernacle doors.

Altar Society: The Altar Society comprises of parishione­rs who prepare and arrange floral displays for the church each week, working either singly or in pairs. The use of fresh flowers enhances the church space especially the sanctuary, and these floral displays also help to reflect the changing Seasons of both the calendar year and the church’s year. If you are interested in joining the Altar Society please call into the Parish Office.

Vacancies: We presently, have vacancies on our Community Employment Project for an Office Administra­tor/Receptioni­st and a Caretaker/Ground’s Person. If you are eligible for CE and interested in either position, please leave your CV into St Anne’s Resource Centre for the attention of Melissa Tobin.

The Altar Society: The Altar Society currently has only three members looking after the flowers for St Anne’s Church. We need more people to help with flower arranging. If you are in- terested and have a few hours to spare, please contact the Parish Office.

Suggestion Box: We now have a Suggestion Box in the church. We welcome suggestion­s/Comments/ideas you may have with regard to improving our Parish Community. These suggestion­s will be brought to the Pastoral Council Meetings which are held monthly.

Men’s coffee morning: The Men’s coffee morning takes place every Friday from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Please join us if you are free.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The Shankill Active Retirement Associatio­n (SARA) meets at 3 p.m. on the third Monday of the month in St Anne’s Resource Centre. New members always welcome. The February meeting was held last Monday afternoon in St Anne’s Resource Centre.

BOOK SALE

The March First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n and Meals on Wheels, will take place in the Shankill Old Folks Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, on Saturday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. so make a point of calling into the book sale on that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunit­y to pick up some excellent reading material for the Spring. Donations of books, other than school/text books, accepted on the day.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Li- brary are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays – the library will be open this Friday but closed on Saturday. HISTORICAL SOCIETY

On Wednesday, March 1, Ms. Theresa Hicks will present her lecture ‘The Kennedys of Mount Kennedy’ to the Rathmichae­l Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack and surroundin­g area, in Rathmichae­l School, Stonebridg­e Road (Dublin Road end), Shankill, Co.Dublin. All welcome – admission €4.

In the meantime members of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society are invited to attend tonight’s (Wednesday) 6 p.m. meeting of the Old Dublin Society, the local history society for Dublin City and county, in the Conference Room of Dublin City Library and Archive, 138 – 144 Pearse Street, Dublin two, at which Gregory Young will present his lecture ‘Francis Smyth and Sons, umbrella manufactur­ers, Dublin, 1836-1967’. ICA GUILD

The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.

SHANKILL GAA CLUB

The next club developmen­t lotto draw will be held tomorrow (Thursday) in Brady’s pub. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5. Our Academy is back in action every Saturday at 10 a.m. in St Laurence’s college. Cost is €2 per child, there is no annual subscripti­on and all equipment is provided free of charge.

All of our teams are now back in training at 11 a.m. also in St Laurence’s college. Sam Maguire was in Shankill and visited all of our schools a big thank you to the teachers and staff for all their help.

Many thanks to all who turned out to our recent AGM – there was a great crowd in attendance.
