FU­TURE OF OUR PLANET

‘Car­ing for the Fu­ture of our Planet’ ex­plores the en­vi­ron­men­tal im­pact of our life­styles in view of cre­at­ing a sus­tain­able world for our chil­dren. We in­vite you to par­tic­i­pate in four nights of re­flec­tion on one of the most crit­i­cal is­sues of our time. Each night we will ex­plore our top­ics with short talks, videos and group dis­cus­sions.

Pope Fran­cis’ Let­ter Laudato Si will in­form our re­flec­tions as we make this Len­ten jour­ney to­gether. Mon­day, March 6 – The En­vi­ron­men­tal Story to­day, Mon­day, March 13 – The So­cial Con­se­quences of our Choices, Mon­day, March 20 – An In­te­gral and Sus­tain­able Ecol­ogy, Mon­day, March 27 – Com­mit­ting to a bet­ter fu­ture.

Talks will be held in the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre at 8 p.m. on each Mon­day with fa­cil­i­ta­tors, Enda Mullen CHF, DCO, Oliver Crotty PP, Michael Rodgers SPS, Mar­garet Pen­der­gast RSM, Breda Ahearn CP, and Pat Mur­phy SPS.

OUT­DOOR WELL­NESS

Come along to the Brock­agh Cen­tre, Laragh and dance away the af­ter­noon on Sun­day, May 21, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with music by the Wick­low Man.

BAS­KET-MAK­ING

This full day tra­di­tional bas­ket-mak­ing work­shop will teach you ba­sic bas­ketry tech­niques. Taught in a re­laxed learn­ing en­vi­ron­ment and you will be bring­ing home your own com­pleted hand­made small round wil­low bas­ket (a skib). The work­shops will take place in the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

GAR­DEN WEAV­ING

This is a full day weav­ing work­shop where par­tic­i­pants will learn to cre­ate a range of small wil­low projects for their gar­den and home in the Brock­agh Cen­tre on April 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The work­shop will be re­laxed and en­joy­able with a fo­cus on learn­ing to weave wil­low forms and struc­tures suit­able for use in veg­etable gar­dens, flower beds and homes. Places are lim­ited to five par­tic­i­pants per work­shop, so be sure to book as soon as possi-

El­e­va­tion Drama classes are a fan­tas­tic way of de­vel­op­ing con­fi­dence and en­cour­ag­ing cre­ativ­ity and imag­i­na­tion. Drama mod­ules will in­cor­po­rate im­pro­vi­sa­tion, mime, script work, vo­cal train­ing and act­ing skills. Classes are held in the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre, Laragh at 5.45 p.m. each Wed­nes­day. Stu­dents will also learn from the Ir­ish Board of Speech and Drama syl­labus and be af­forded op­por­tu­ni­ties to take graded ex­am­i­na­tions un­der a fully qual­i­fied teacher. DANCE SCHOOL

El­e­va­tion Dance School is a com­bi­na­tion of mod­ern dance classes, ISTD and ID Dance Ex­am­i­na­tions and cre­ative dance, all de­pend­ing on stu­dent’s group age. Classes are held in the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre, Laragh from at 4 p.m. each Wed­nes­day. PI­LATES

Pi­lates classes are on Mon­day morn­ings in the Brock­agh Cen­tre, Laragh, help­ing peo­ple get off to a good start for the week. Du­ra­tion of the class is seven weeks and will start at 9.15 to 10.15 a.m., with an­other class from 10.30 to 11.30 a.m. Marie Noo­nan is a qual­i­fied pi­lates teacher and has been teach­ing for the last 17 years and works full time as a move­ment ther­a­pist for re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion, health and longevity.
