Joan Delaney’s 70th birthday party a very happy occasion

- BY MARY FOGARTY

Joan Delaney-McMahon enjoyed a fantastic party in the Martello recently to celebrate her 70th birthday.

There were over 70 people at the celebration in the seafront area.

The Lauderdale woman was joined by her husband Pearse, her brothers Brian and Eamonn and their wives, her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Her neighbours and many friends were also delighted to share the happy occasion.

One of her nephews travelled from Holland with his family, while a niece of Pearse’s travelled from Tyrone with her husband to shared the day. Her brothers came from England to wish their sister a very happy birthday.

Joan is a member of the Le Cheile choir based in Little Bray, and many of their number joined her for the party.

A DJ played for the party-goers, who enjoyed plenty of dancing throughout the night.

Joan said a few words to her guests, thanking them for making the journey to come and celebrate her birthday.

She thanked the choir members, whom she said are just like family to her now.

It was a very nice evening for everyone who attended, and Joan said that the Martello looked after her very well.

She received many very generous and thoughtful gifts from everyone on the night.
