LIBRARY

The local Library in Enniskerry opens four days every week on Church Road. Tuesdays and Thursdays 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6.30 to 8.30 p.m. Friday hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Saturday hours are 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

PAR 3 GOLF

Spring is surely here as the Enniskerry Par 3 golfers have their first outing on Sunday, March 19, in Jamestown.

WALKERS

Enniskerry Walkers ate winding down their winter Saturday walks and looking forward to the summer nights when walk on Tuesdays. New schedule will be available soon.

DARTS

The Powerscour­t Arms darts team will play two games this week, both at home; on Thursday they play in the Cup, last week saw a very good come to earn a draw in Dun Laoire Paul Byrne threw seven 100 hundreds in his win. Jerry Wall, Greg Feelings and Paddy B. McCabe were the other winners.

A Mass of Gratitude and Thanks: Last night (Tuesday) a Mass of gratitude and appreciati­on for all of the lay Ministries that serve the communitie­s of the parish of the Immaculate of Mary i.e. Enniskerry, Curtlestow­n, Kilmacanog­ue, and Glencree was celebrated at 7.30 p.m. in St Mary’s Parish Church. We are blessed in our parish that so many members of the community give of their time to serving God and their fellow Christians through various lay Ministries including choirs and musicians, Readers, Ministers of the Eucharist, Sacristans, Gardeners, Finance Committee, Property Committee, Flower Teams, Liturgy Committee, Children’s Liturgy Co-ordinators, God’s Housekeepe­rs, office staff, Hospitalit­y Team and many more.

Novena of Grace: Last Saturday the St Francis Xavier, Novena of Grace commenced and will conclude this Sunday. Novena prayers are said in St Mary’s Church after Mass each morning.

Lenten Ecumenical Discussion Group: Theme – Pilgrimage – (Walking with Jesus through Lent) in Powerscour­t National School commencing tonight (Wednesday) at 7.30 p.m. for 8 p.m. Tea and biscuits will be served at 7.30 p.m.

The Rosary: The Rosary is recited each morning (Monday to Saturday) at 10 a.m. (before Morning Mass and at 7 p.m. in the Prayer Room in St Mary’s on the first Monday of the month.

Baptisms: Baptisms are now held on the second Saturday of the month in St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry, for parishione­rs only. Please arrange with parish office. Parishione­rs are asked to please give two weeks notice if you wish to book a baptism.

Irish Catholic Magazine: If you would like to purchase a copy of the Irish Catholic weekly through the Parish (cost €1.80) please leave your name in St Mary’s Parish Shop or the parish office.

Helpers Wanted: God’s Housekeepe­rs are looking for help on Monday mornings for half an hour from 10.45 a.m. to 11.15 a.m. to clean St Mary’s Church, even if you cannot commit to every week, every second week, once a month, all help appreciate­d.

Legion of Mary – Kilmacanog­ue Presidium: Meet at 3.30 p.m. every Tuesday in the Sacristy of St Mochonog’s. New members are most welcome. Group recite the Rosary on the first Saturday of each month at midday at the Grotto in the church grounds. Click on the link legionofma­ry.ie to view website.

Parish Shop: St Mary’s Church Shop (at rear of Church on the left) opens after all Masses. All occasion cards, prayers, statues available plus items, for baptisms, weddings and other Special Occasions.

CURTLESTOW­N DINNER

Calling on all past-pupils, grandparen­ts and friends of St Patrick’s National School, Curtlestow­n. Join us for a great night on Saturday, March 25, to raise much needed funds for our school.

HISTORY SOCIETY

Tomorrow night (Thursday) the March meeting of the Enniskerry History Society takes place in the Powerscour­t Arms and Country House at 8.30 p.m. at which Frank Tracy will return to present his lecture ‘The story of Glencree’ originally scheduled to take place in January but had to be cancelled at the last minute due to the sudden onset of adverse weather conditions. All welcome to attend – admission €4.

In the meantime members of the Enniskerry History Society are invited to attend tonight’s (Wednesday) 6 p.m. meeting of the Old Dublin Society in the Conference Room of Dublin City Library and Archive, 138 – 144 Pearse Street, Dublin two, at which Mark Davies, from Oxford, England, will present his lecture ‘King of all Balloons – the first flight across the Irish Sea to Holyhead in 1817 and other escapades’ – admission free.

At Saturdays Family History Day in Dublin City Library and Archive, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. several lectures will take place – admission free, and to next Tuesday night’s 8 p.m. meeting of the Genealogic­al Society of Ireland in Dun Laoghaire College of Further Education, Cumberland Street, Dun Laoghaire, at which Ms. Ciara Kerrigan will present her lecture ‘The National Library of Ireland – The Manuscript Collection­s of the Genealogic­al Office’ – all welcome. ENNISKERRY LIBRARY

Opening hours are as follow: Tuesday and Wednesday – 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.; Friday – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday – 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Book Club will be continuing and will meet on the last Wednesday of every month. CYCLE 4 FAMILIES

Charity event will be on April 1 from the Brockagh Centre, Laragh. The Ronald McDonald House provides 20 families, every night with accommodat­ion, care and support while their children are seriously and long-term ill in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. MEDITATION RETREAT

Meditation retreats are a life changing opportunit­y to deepen your meditation practice and enable life balance. ANNAMOE CENTRE

The Annamoe Centre will host a story house event this Friday, March 10, at 8 p.m., which promises to be a great night of entertainm­ent. The centre will also host family fun bingo on Sunday, March 19, at 3 p.m.

Come along and enjoy a light-hearted look at various tax reliefs, tax-planning opportunit­ies, pitfalls etc. in the Brockagh Resource Centre on Thursday, March 9, from 7.30 to 9.30 p.m., free admission.

A wide array of topics will be covered including medical ex- penses, passing on a business/ farm during lifetime or by will, owning rental property, selling sites, young trained farmers and much more. The session will be presented by Mel Kilkenny and Stephen Loughran of LK Tax Ltd.

To all our customers and stallholde­rs, our Brockagh Centre March Car Boot will be on Sunday, March 12, instead of our usual first Sunday (for this month only). We have even more homemade baking delights for 2017 with our usual array of great value items. Vans must be booked in.
