EVENING OF MUSIC

On Thursday, April 27, the DCW music department held their annual evening of music in the Dominican Convent Chapel. The very talented Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate music students played and sang their exam pieces, MC’s for the evening were Caoimhe Cronin and Annie Loftus.

It was a beautiful evening where the girls’ enormous talent and hard work were showcased. It included singing from individual students, the third and sixth year group singers as well as the DCW Singing Club and the DCW Chamber Orchestra.

Congratulations to all the students involved and huge thanks goes to Ms. Maxwell and Ms. Gaffney for all the hard work they put into the students preparation for their practical exams and in organising the evening.

TRACK AND FIELD

DCWs athletes are busy preparing for the East Leinster track and field competition next week. The DCW athletes have had a super year to date and we wish the best of luck to all involved.

PARENT’S FUNDRAISER

The parents’ association will be holding a fundraiser coffee morning in Phil Healy’s on Friday, May 5, from 10 to 12.30. All parents, family and friends of DCW are very welcome. We are very grateful to the parents’ association for all the great work they do for the school.

SURF LIFESAVING

Congratulations to Sadhbh Dolan, Mia Kristiansen, Lilly Devitt and Robyn Brennan, who represented Ireland at the ‘National Nipper Surf Lifesaving Competition’ on Saturday the 22nd in University Limerick. The girls took gold in the 12-14 Medley Relay and the Obstacle Relay. Lilly won individual gold, silver and bronze medals while Mia won two individual gold medals and a bronze medal. Well done girls on a fabulous performance.

ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS

We are looking forward to a visit from the Road Safety Awareness Team on Monday and Tuesday, May 8 and nine. They will be giving talks to various year groups on road safety and all students will have an opportunity to try the RSA Shuttle and Simulator.

LEAVING CERT ART

Best of luck to all the Leaving Certificate art students who will be taking their practical exams on Thursday, May 4.
