Beautician wasn’t paid for wedding

-

A WOMAN who arranged beauty treatments and makeup for her daughter’s wedding did not pay the €1,885 bill.

Noreen O’Brien (44), 8 River Close, Killiney Hill Road, has now paid the beautician €1,440 in compensation.

O’Brien pleaded guilty last Thursday to obtaining services by deception, at Halo Beauty Salon, Main Street, Bray, on April 11, 2012.

The court heard that O’Brien engaged the services of Anne-Marie Adamson for her daughter’s upcoming wedding, due to take place on April 16, 2012.

Ms Adamson closed the salon to the public from April 11 to 15 to work on 13 girls. The court heard that she provided a reduced rate.

She had asked for a deposit, which O’Brien said would be handed over that Friday.

When it came to the Friday, she was told that the fees would be paid in full at the Wedding on April 16. Services were provided and no payment was made. Ms Adamson went to the wedding and provides services there also.

Garda Anastasia Rowe said that she went to O’Brien’s ad- dress and invited her to make a statement, but no statement was given. Garda Rowe said that this was due mainly to the presence of young children.

‘I put it to her and she said that yes, she had asked for treatments. She alleged that a couple of girls had jumped on the bandwagon and availed of services at her expense,’ said Garda Rowe. ‘Some women over from England were to give her money. She said she wouldn’t foot the bill for them. She asked for a receipt for makeup, and who got treatments and when.’

Garda Rowe said that O’Brien would pay for seven women, including herself, the bride, and another daughter.

A breakdown of cost was provided. Garda Rowe said that when she called to the house again, O’Brien had gone to England and wasn’t expected back.

Solicitor Joe Maguire said that O’Brien is a mother of seven. He said that she is married but separated. Her 14-monthold child died in August 2012 and following that her ‘world fell apart’. She went to the UK a lot after the death and stayed with her son. The matter was adjourned to July 27 for a community service report.
