Man and woman fined for dumping at Killruddery

-

A MAN and woman who dumped domestic waste at Killruddery face custodial sentences if they do not pay fines imposed by Bray District Court for the dumping offences.

Florentina Moisa Udila and Stocia Marian Stefan, 12 Kindlestown Road Lower, Greystones, appeared before the court last Thursday.

An inspector for Wicklow County Council’s waste enforcement section said that they received a complaint on March 24, 2016, regarding dumping on the Killruddery estate.

There was approximately a dozen bags plus boxes and clothes dumped over the wall. They were in two areas within 150 metres of each other.

Evidence was found in three bags, including an envelope addressed to Fiorentina Moisa Udila, part of a bank statement with the account holder Florentina Udila, a partially torn letter addressed to Moisa Udila, and an envelope addressed to Stefan Marian.

The council received a further complaint from Killruddery on April 6. There were two different areas of dumping, several hundred metres apart. There were 15 black bags dumped, containing general domestic waste.

Similar evidence was found identifying the two defendants, including a letter sent by the waste enforcement section of Wicklow County Council asking an individual to attend an interview under caution at County Buildings.

Killruddery made another complaint on April 13, 2016. The inspector found two areas of dumping, 100 metres apart. As well as 10 bags, there was a kid’s car seat, stroller and electrical equipment.

Further evidence was found, including another two letters from the waste enforcement section of Wicklow County Council.

The council wrote to the two defendants by registered post in January 2016, inviting them for interview at County Buildings in February 2016.

Hand delivered letters in March 2016 invited them to interview in April.

They ultimately received summons to court.

Judge David Kennedy fined both of them €1,000 each and ordered them to pay €1,714 each in costs. He said that if the fines are not paid, he will impose a custodial sentence.
