ITALIAN THEME TO LE CHÉILE CHOIR EVENING

Italy is coming to Bray on the country’s independen­ce day, Friday, June 2. Le Cheile choir will host an event at the Royal Hotel from 7.30 p.m. to 12.30 p.m. The theme for the event is northern Italy, where the choir will travel in September for a festival of music in the village of Sarzana. Choirs will come for a return visit to Bray the following June.

The evening will include a screen presentati­on of the area in Italy to which the Le Cheile choir will travel. The event will end with dancing to music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Admission of €15 will include finger food. Proceeds will go towards the choir’s expenses in representi­ng Ireland in northern Italy. To reserve tickets, call 01 2867644.

MUSIC FROM THE MUSICALS WITH GREYSTONES ORCHESTRA

Greystones Orchestra will play ‘Music from the Musicals’ at St Patrick’s National School in Greystones, on Saturday, May 20 at 8 p.m. Guest players from the Artane senior band will join the orchestra at the concert.

Bringing you to the dizzying heights of Broadway and the West End, the Greystones orchestra plan to delight with exciting arrangemen­ts from classics such as West Side Story, Oklahoma and South Pacific right up to Phantom of the opera and Les Miserables.

This concert will appeal to young and old and is a rare opportunit­y to experience a full orchestra playing in a local venue.

ACTION ARTS

The Action Arts end-of-year show takes place from Wednesday, May 17, to Sunday, May 21, at the Mermaid Arts Centre. Presenting a wonderful mixture of dramatic art, singing and dance, the performers aged three to 12 years will engage you with drama and song from well known musicals and plays. Be amazed and entertaine­d by these very talented children their presentati­on of ‘Fiddler On the Roof’.

GOSPEL CHOIR ARKLOW

Rehearsals continues every Monday evening in the Abbey Room, Grand Hotel, and Wednesday evenings in St Brigid’s Hall, Rathnew, both at 8 p.m.
