ENNISKERRY

-

Enniskerry 1-12, St. Pat’s 1-8 - A good win for us on a wet night in Kilgarron last Friday. A penalty converted by Gavin Barton set us on our way but Pats responded with a well worked goal of their own to leave us 1-6 to 1-4 ahead at the break.

Midway through the second falf ,we had stretched the lead to five points but some great point kicking by Donie Fitzgerald kept Pats well in it. However the goal they needed never came thanks to some solid defending by the homeside and the Black and Amber men closed the game with two well worked points from Gavin Barton and Craig Williams. Others that kicked points for us on the night were Dan Kelly, Seamus O’Gorman, Brendan Barton and Alan Acres. Some excellent points kicked by both sides on the night.

In a good all round performance, best for Enniskerry were Ian Kirwan who made some vital saves at crucial stages, Jack Conroy, Luke Dalton and the midfield pairing of Williams and Owen Corrigan.

Next up we travel to Valleymount on Sunday week (May 28) to take on the Lakesiders who currently top the table.

Ladies - Clan na Gael faced Kilbride on Thursday night with a seven-point win, final score of 1-11 to 1-04.

The girls fought hard with a good all round performance by all. Some great scores by Sophie Curran, Ava Doyle and Naomi Kiernan with a penalty in the second half with Noelle Nolan and Jamie Curran having a great game in defence.

The ladies next match is away to Eire Og, Thursday, June 25.

Juveniles - The Clan na Gael under-15s played their third match of the season against Tomacork last night in the Wicklow centre of excellence in Ballinakill.

Both teams were well matched physically, and were well matched on the scoreboard as well for most of the game, with Clan na Gael’s passing and support play being matched by Tomacork’s greater accuracy in front of goal.

Some superb score taking by full forward Jamie Nally and a great goal by Mitch Bursey meant there was just a point in it at half-time, Tomacork leading by 2-5 to 2-4.

Clan na Gael really took control in the third quarter, with Ben Lambert and Stephen Maguire driving the team forward, but just could not turn this dominance into scores.

Clan na Gael led by a point with just 10 minutes left, but three goals for Tomacork in as many minutes turned the game on its head. Final score was Tomacork 6-7 to Clan na Gael 2-8.
