Are you ready for ‘Run the Rock’ test?

-

ON Saturday, June 3 at 11.00am in the luxurious surrounds of The Brooklogde Hotel Macreddin the starting gun will sound the start of Run The Rock 2017.

Some of those taking part will be facing the challenge for the first time while for others they will be returning for the fun and fundraising efforts with Aughrim GAA Club.

This is a run which tests both body and mind. (Some say its a ‘character builder’).

Overlooking Aughrim, Cushbawn is a 400-meter high mountain with stunning views over surrounding countryside and hills. It is a formidable challenge to walk this let alone endeavour to run it.

You will encounter a 350-meter climb in the first 3km of this forest trail.

When you reach the top you can quench your thirst at the summit water station where you can admire the stunning views.

You will then descend via more forest trails and loop around the Sean Linehan Walk and back up to the finish line at the Brooklodge. (outside Actons Bar)

Relax afterwards in the comfortable surrounds of this luxurious Hotel and Spa.

This is the fifth year of Run The Rock and has proved a very popular event over last number of years both for the local community and visitors alike.

Timing chips will be used. A generous prize fund is in place as well as customised medals for all finishers. Tea/coffee will be provided afterwards.

There is also a 3.5km family walk/run on the day too. Avondale Sports and Leisure (Bill Porter) have kindly sponsored trophies for first boy and girl in each age group as well as a novelty first parent and child prize in the 3.5km fun run.

More details to follow.
