Bray Lions club golf tournament

-

Bray Lions Club’s charity golf tournament will take place at Bray Golf Club on Friday, June 16.

Launching Bray Lions club’s charity golf last Tuesday. club President Jerry Teehan said: ‘ The annual golf classic is a very important element of the club’s fund raising efforts. There are many demands on our funds from really worthy causes.

In June each year, the Bray Lions Club along with Lions clubs across Ireland, bring over 850 senior citizens/people in need and carers to Trabolgan, County Cork for a well-deserved holiday. They enjoy many activities; sing-songs, dancing, swimming and bingo to name but a few, as well as accommodation, full board and transport.

However, this year a number of the charities that provided this service in the past in the Bray area are no longer able to do so due to financial difficulties. Bray Lions Club has stepped into the breach and they plan to bring 16 people to Trabolgan from June 9 to June 16. They have a further two on a waiting list if spaces become available. The current estimate for the cost of this project alone is €4,400.

‘ To raise funds for this very worthwhile project we plan to run a charity golf outing at Bray Golf Club on Friday, June 16,’ said event organiser Tony Foran.

‘ The format of the golf will be a fourball scramble, that we have found in the past to be a most enjoyable event.

Tee-times will be from 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. and there will be a meal in the club house on completion of your round,’ said Tony.

‘But, you don’t have to play golf to help us,’ he said. ‘ There are many ways in which you can help.’

You can sponsor a team for €250, or sponsor a green or tee for €100, to include one player for golf and one meal.

Additional places at the golf outing can be obtained for €50.

For €50 you can place an advertisement on signs throughout the course, or give a donation of your choice.
