West Wicklow Schools storm to an impressive victory
WW SCHOOLS 8-19 COL. CHILL MHANTAIN 1-2
THE Wicklow Post Primary Schools juvenile hurling B final took place in Dunlavin on Tuesday
The West team which consisted solely of players from St Kevin’s CC Dunlavin dominated from the start and never let the CCM lads settle.
They gave an exhibition of top class skilful hurling to lead by 3-13 to 1-0 at half time.
The Wicklow Town school never gave up and showed improved form in the second half when they set up more chances.
The West team were strong throughout the field, especially up the middle and some of their long range points were a joy to watch.
Tom Moran, Jack Grace, Alan Miley and Brian Keogh were particularly impressive.
James Ffrench made some good saves in the CCM goal while Tom O’Brien, T J Kehoe and Fionn Luddy also caught the eye.

COUNTY SENIOR FOOTBALL
It was good to see Darragh Fitzgerald, captain of the Wicklow Schools team that went down narrowly in the Leinster Schools A semi final making his debut for Wicklow senior footballers last Sunday in the Leinster Champinship game v Louth.
Another member of the schools team Mark Jackson was sub goalkeeper on Sunday.
A Youtube video of Mark scoring points from two long range frees in the Leinster semi final v. St Peters and his reaction to the vociferous crowd has had over 89,000 hits.
