Awards for hard work during year

THE students of St Gerard’s school in Bray marked the end of their academic year with an awards ceremony.

The principal Tom Geraghty and the St Gerard’s teaching staff were very proud of their young charges, who received awards for academics and merit following a year of hard work.

Outgoing head girl Claudia McCabe and head boy Gavin Dowd congratula­ted their successors Georgia Ferguson and Joshua Dargan Hayes at the ceremony held at the school sports hall the Sunday before last.

Mr Geraghty was joined by vice-principal Adrian Dungan and chairman John Behan as well as the staff in paying tribute to the sixth year students at the Thornhill Road school.

Liam Noonan was presented with an award for ‘Sportspers­on of the Year’ for his achievemen­ts on the sports fields.

A range of students received merit awards for what they did in both the classroom and extra-curriculur activities.

The Spirit of St Gerard’s Cup, reflecting the school’s spirit of generosity and kindness, went to Emily Byrne.

Academic Cup winners included Michael Noonan, Hilary Gallagher, Alannah Crowly and Kilian Beashel.

The students continue to study hard for the forthcomin­g state examinatio­ns and are all looking forward to the next chapter in their lives.
