Students are celebrated
FINAL-YEAR students at St Kilian’s gathered at the school last Thursday evening to celebrate the end of their secondary years with an awards ceremony.
Principal John Murphy was delighted to preside over the event, the last one the students would experience prior to this year’s Leaving Certificate Examinations.
The students enjoyed the ceremony at the school, before going out together afterwards for the night.
The student of the year award went to Brady Yeoh, for his contribution to the school community. Mr Murphy and year head Paul Connolly handed over the award.
Prizes were also handed out for attendance, as well as specific awards for particular subjects.
Nicole Byrne was presented with an award for ‘Prefect of the Year’ by teacher Adrienne Hume, while Niamh Devlin and Chloe Kehoe both received ‘Community Spirit’ awards.
Princiapl of St Fergal’s Tom Sargeant was on-hand to present Tia Kenna with the ‘Gradam na Gaeilge’ award for her achievements in the Irish language.
Jade McAteer was recognised for ‘Overall Excellence in LCA’, while YAsmin Keogh received an award for ‘Academic Excellence’.
It was a wonderful evening of celebration as the students of the class of 2017 prepare to move on to the next phase of their lives and say farewell to St Kilian’s.
