Enniskerry junior footballers put up a good fighting their away league game in West Wicklow against Junior A side Valleymount. The black and amber boys took an early lead but were eventually worn down by experienced side. Best for Enniskerry were Paul Kavanagh playing in goal after a long layoff, James Maloney and Dan Kelly. Scores were shared by Gavin and Brendan Gavin, Alan King and Rhys Cope.

Mass Time Change in St Mary’s: There will be no 7 p.m. Vigil Mass in St Mary’s Parish Church in the future. Sunday Masses will be at 10 a.m. in Curtlestown and Kilmacanogue, 11 a.m. in Enniskerry and 9 a.m. on the first Sunday of the month in Glencree.

Used Stamps Needed: Barnardos Children’s Charity are looking for used stamps. The money raised through the sale of these stamps will go directly towards their work with vulnerable children here in Ireland. If you would like to leave your used stamps in an envelope in the basket at the back of the church we will forward them to Barnardos at regular intervals.
Lost Property: Items left behind in St Mary’s Church by the Congregation are left on the top of the safe outside the church Shop. Items of value found can be claimed in the Sacristy.
The Rosary: The Rosary is recited each morning (Monday to Saturday) at 10 a.m. before Morning Mass and at 7 p.m. in the Prayer Room in St Mary’s on the first Monday of the month.
Baptisms: Baptisms are now held on the second Saturday of the month in St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry, for parishioners only. Please arrange with parish office. Parishioners are asked to please give two weeks notice if you wish to book a baptism.
Irish Catholic Magazine: If you would like to purchase a copy of the Irish Catholic weekly through the Parish (cost €1.80) please leave your name in St Mary’s Parish Shop or the parish office.
Helpers Wanted: God’s Housekeepers are looking for help on Monday mornings for half an hour from 10.45 a.m. to 11.15 a.m. to clean St Mary’s Church, even if you cannot commit to every week, every second week, once a month, all help appreciated.
Legion of Mary – Kilmacanogue Presidium: Meet at 3.30 p.m. every Tuesday in the Sacristy of St Mochonog’s. New members are most welcome. Group recite the Rosary on the first Saturday of each month at midday at the Grotto in the church grounds. Click on the link legionofmary.ie to view website.
HISTORY SOCIETY
The Enniskerry History Society is on summer Recess till meetings resume in the autumn. In the meantime members are invited to visit the ‘Bicentenary of the Pier’ exhibition on view till the end of June in the dlr lexicon, Haig Terrace, Dun Laoghaire, which provides an illustrated account of the fascinating history of Dun Laoghaire pier over the past two centuries, researched by Colin and Anna Scudds of the Dun Laoghaire Borough Historical Society, with images ranging from the 19th century right up to the present time.
The Dun Laoghaire Borough Historical Society has also published a special booklet ‘A Safe Anchorage: Dún Laoghaire/ Kingstown Harbour 1817-2017’, compiled by the Dún Laoghaire Borough Historical Society Bi-centenary Book Committee of Anna Scudds, Colin Scudds, and Maria O’Flaherty, containing articles relating to the Harbour published in the Society’s annual journal over the past 25 years, and available from various outlets in Dun Laoghaire or directly from the society at – dunlaoghairehistorical.com.

ENNISKERRY LIBRARY
Opening hours are as follow: Tuesday and Wednesday – 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.; Friday – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday – 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Book Club will be continuing and will meet on the last Wednesday of every month. New members to both the Library and Book Club are always very welcome. Please phone 01 2864339 for further information. The library will be closed this Saturday due to the Bank Holiday weekend.

St Mary’s and St Gerard’s NS Parents’ association annual fundraiser will take place on Friday, June 9, Casino night at the Summerhill Hotel, Enniskerry, from 7.30 p.m., kicking off with a Top Class barbecue.
Fun Casino with super prizes for the top players and Entertainment till late.
WALKING ASSOCIATION
The Enniskerry Walking Association was formed in 2004 to protect traditional walking routes in the area and to promote walking for recreation, for health, as a safe alternative to car use, and to help us all to learn more about our locality.
Our popular Tuesday evening walks usually meet at the Spar in Enniskerry at 7 p.m. All who are interested, adults or children, are most welcome. Walks vary in length but most last between one-and-a half and two-and-ahalf hours; some (but not all) involve a bit of climbing.
Please wear appropriate warm and rain-proof clothing, and proper walking boots for the occasional muddy or rocky track. In the interests of walker’s comfort and safety participants are asked to respect the directions of the walk leader and stay between the leader and the anchor person.
Tuesday Evening Walks in June are – Tuesday, June 6 – Rathmichael Church to Carrigollogan. Approximately four miles, 2.5 to three hours. Meet Outside Spar at 7 p.m. Meet Rathmichael Church at 7.20 p.m.; Tuesday, June 13 – Glencree to Mass Rock and Knocknagun. Some climbing. Meet Outside Spar at 7 p.m. or Glencree Centre at 7.20 p.m.; Tuesday, June 20 – Rockbrook, Massy’s Wood and Hellfire Club. 2-3 hours Meet Outside Spar at 7 p.m., Cruagh Cemetery car park at 7.30 p.m.; Tuesday, June 23 – Kipure from Sally Gap road. Bring a Mid-summer Nights Snack. 2.5hrs Meet Outside Spar at 7 p.m., Gate to Kippure at 7.30 p.m.
