Success across the board for the Loreto senior classes

As the sixth year girls at Loreto prepare for their Leaving Cert and the next stage of their lives, the school paid tribute to the graduating year with an awards ceremony.

The awards were presented at the school recently.

It was Orla Gleeson who won this year’s prestigious Sr Kathleen Smyth Award.

The annual presentation is made to the student who shows all round qualities in academic and sporting areas, as well as a caring, sociable and enthusiastic nature with a deep concern for her fellow students and society in general.

This award is named after Sr Kathleen Smith who was Principal in Loreto, Bray during the 1970s and 80s.

She herself had remarkable qualities and was dearly loved by both students and staff of the school.

Sr Phil Murphy made the presentation to Amy.

Some of the girls were recognised for their achievements throughout the year in academics.

Awards were given to high achievers in maths, business, home economics, languages, sciences, art and more.

Principal Emma Raughter presented the academic Student of the Year award to Emma Mahon.

There were also awards for Sports Person of the Year (Eibhlin Laffan Downes) and a Cultural Award for Emily Lannin.

The Lions Club Student of the Year Award went to Molly Comish .

Hannah Hanly and Emer Molloy. received the LCVP Awards.

Katie Doyle received the award for out-sdanding attendance. Katie didn’t miss a single day for the duration of her secondary school career.
