Angel finds her forever home after social media campaign

- By DEBORAH COLEMAN

A DOG in the care of ASH Animal Rescue in Rathdangan has finally found her forever home after a seven-year wait.

Jack Russell/Beagle cross Angel was rescued from Wicklow town by the west Wicklow organisation but for seven years continued appeals failed to secure her a long-term home.

As the lovable pooch was entering her seventh summer in care, the team at ASH decided to once again appeal for a good home to take in Angel and, following an extensive social media campaign, a Dublin family came forward and offered to adopt her.

‘We are delighted to say that yes, indeed, Angel has found a new home. Her future owners came over today to meet our shy girl and it seems that everything is going in the good direction,’ said Remi Le Mahieu of ASH Animal Rescue. ‘She is still here for the moment and it will take a couple of weeks for her new family and Angel to get used to one another and after that she will finally move to her forever home.’

Remi said that everyone at ASH was delighted that Angel will finally go to a good home and praised the merits of the social media campaign, which spread the word nationwide.

Meanwhile there are a number of kittens and dogs seeking new homes through ASH and also a hand-reared fox called Freddie who can be sponsored for €50 per year.

Freddie was abandoned as a cub and could not survive in the wild so is well looked after by the rescue team.
