Two ‘Lets Talk About’ workshops

-

As part of it’s Let’s Talk About information and community engagement series, Co Wicklow Public Participation Network (PPN) will hold two events in the county in the coming days.

Next Monday, June 26, at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Resource Centre in Laragh, the PPN will host an information session for community groups hoping to find out about community development structures, plans and processes that can impact on their areas and way of life. In particular, the event will look at the Local Community Development Committee, which exists to co-ordinate, in a general way, the local and community development activities within the county.

The network would like to hear the public’s thoughts and in so doing ensure that the PPN continues to be an effective and accessible voice for community groups throughout County Wicklow. To find out more about or book a place at this event, email countywicklowppn@gmail.com or call Helen on 087 1895145.

In collaboration with Disability Federation Ireland and Wicklow County Council, the PPN is inviting people with disabilities who live, work or socialise in the Bray and Greystones area to attend a workshop which aims to identify and propose solutions to common accessibility issues in their local area. With support from Bray Area Partnership Disability Network, the workshop will examine experiences in regard to: physical access, access to local services and raising awareness of the issues affecting people with disabilities locally.

Information from the seminar will support Wicklow County Council in responding to the needs of people with disabilities and help them to engage with the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at local level.

The workshop will take place next Wednesday, June 28, from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in The Little Flower Hall in Bray. However, places are limited, so people are encouraged to register by today (Wednesday, June 21). To find out more or register, contact Laura English at Laruaenglish@Disability-federation.ie or 086 8206736 or Helen Howes at countywicklowppn@gmail.com or 087 1895145.
