Case that has shaken nation to its core

A TRAGIC discovery in the Wicklow mountains last week has led to an extensive garda enquiry which has now taken in North Wexford and South Dublin, as well as multiple sites in Wicklow:

FRIDAY, JUNE 2:

Patricia O’Connor is reported missing. Her disappeara­nce is not believed to be suspicious.

SATURDAY, JUNE 10:

Part of a torso is discovered by a family of walkers near Military Road in the Wicklow Mountains. It is believed to be that of a male.

SUNDAY, JUNE 11:

Further human remains are discovered.

TUESDAY, JUNE 13:

Additional body parts are discovered. The deceased is now identified as female.

A total of nine separate human remains have been discovered scattered along a 30km area across the Wicklow mountains.

Over 200 gardaí and members of the defence forces were involved in the search.

A field at Kilmuckrid­ge is sealed off overnight.

Up to 10 separate scenes have been sealed off in Dublin, Wexford, and Wicklow.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14:

The field at Kilmuckrid­ge remains cordoned off as investigat­ions at the site continue.

Local gardaí, members of the divisional search team, and 30 soldiers spend the following few days conducting a detailed search of the field.

Local gardaí conduct door to door enquiries at local homes and in the two nearby villages.
