STOCKTON’S WING CELEBRATE

-

ONE of the country’s most prolific and enduring bands, Stockton’s Wing, will perform at The Mermaid Theatre in Bray as part of their celebrations of their extraordinary 40-year career.

The Ennis-based band, pictured tright, will perform a series of summer shows and will take to the stage in Bray on Saturday, July 8.

Featuring regular members Mike Hanrahan (vocals and guitar), Paul Roche (flute and tin whistle), Steve Cooney (guitar, bass and didgeridoo) and Tommy Hayes (percussion, bodhran and spoon), the band will be joined by two young Claire musicians Tara Breen on fiddle and Karol Lynch on banjo/ mandolin.

Fans will be treated to a back catalogue of hits including much loved classic ‘Beautiful Affair’.

‘I am so delighted to be back with Stockton’s Wing playing the music that shaped my earlier life and career, ‘ said Mike Hanrahan, who has been at the helm of the band at various stages over the last 40 years.

‘We were adventurers in every sense – with no boundaries and no pressures. We created a new innovative sound and our gigs were always happy and energetic occasions.’

‘A Wing gig is a special event and this time we are not trying to take over the world, just simply enjoying a moment, shining a light on the back catalogue of a music we believe is still worthy, compelling and spirited. It will be great to meet the fans again and hopefully collect a few new ones along the way.’

Tickets for the Mermaid Arts Centre show are priced at €25/€23 available via 01 2724030 or mermaidartscentre.ie.
