GAA dinner dance

-

Everyone involved with Kilmacanogue GAA Club would like to thank the close to 200 people who attended a beautiful four course meal at the dinner dance recently in the Parkview Hotel.

Club chairman Mark Quinn presided over proceeding on the night with the ‘Quiet Man’ himself Peadar Smyth called upon on as club chairman in 1997 to oversee the presentation ceremony. Gerry Blackbyrne and Paddy O’Brien presented plaques to the 97 junior A winning panel while Dermot Murphy presented medals to the ladies’ team of 1996. Dermot also spoke passionately of how much he enjoyed working with this team just over 20 years ago. Mark Quinn then presented the 2016 division two winning team with their medals.

The club would also like to thank everyone who supported the auction and the following people who bought items: Paul Prendergast, Greg O’Donnell, Chris Masterson, Carol Cassidy, Gerry Blackbyrne, Andrew Molloy, Wes Callaghan and Jonathan Daniels, Gavin Burke and Robbie Draper.

As all were aware before the dinner dance, all money raised on the night went towards the building of the new clubhouse. Mark Quinn displayed photos of the new building and paid great thanks the project management committee of John Flynn, Ryan Lavery and Andrew Molloy, who have worked tirelessly to get building to the stage it is at today.

It is expected the roof of the new building will be installed by the end of July and the building will be moving towards being watertight.

Finally, none of this wonderful evening would not have been possible without the hard work of Melanie Lee, Judy O’Toole, Claire Redden, Joy Burke, Stephen Rooney, Peadar Smyth, Jason Doyle and Mark Quinn, well done to everyone.
