MUSIC IN CALARY

The next concert in our 2017 series is on Sunday, June 25, when the Delmaine String Quartet together with Michael James Ford, Gary Jermyn and Susannah De Wrixon will present ‘The Waterloo Concert’ with music, song, poetry and prose reflecting the great battle. It will incorporate works by Shostakovich, Beethoven and Schubert alongside pieces composed by the Duke’s own father, Garret Wellesley, who was the first professor of music at Trinity College.

As this concert is being held to raise much needed funds to support Sister Mary Killeen’s work for street children in the slums of Nairobi, there is the option of a supper in the church room before the concert starts. The supper will begin at 6 p.m. and the concert will start at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the supper and concert are €40 while those for the concert on its own are €18 and €15 for concessions. To book tickets, please ring John at 01 2818146 or email derekneilson@eircom.net.

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no jackpot winner in last week draw. The numbers drawn were 3, 4.27 and 29. There were five match-three winners, Evan Cullen, Gerry Kavo, Nathan Osunbar, Jim McCabe and Sandra Carroll, Next week’s jackpot will be €10,900.

LUNCH CLUB

45 CARD GAME

Progressive 45 Card Game in Roundwood Parish Hall June 18 at 7.30 p.m. in aid of St Vincent de Paul. Excellent Cash Prizes with refreshments and Raffle at the interval.

DAY TRIPS

There will be a one-day trip to Kilbeggan distillery and St Mel’s Cathedral and shopping in Athlone on July 29 which includes, scones, tea and dinner. The bus will pick up in Roundwood at Parish Hall at 9 a.m. Total cost €70 per person. All money must be in before July 1. To book please contact Susan at 087 6273032.

WALKING GROUP

Now with the longer evenings the Wednesday evenings walks can take to the countryside. The walks will leave from the Coach House car park on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. to take in some of the great walks around the Vartry Reservoirs. Do come along and bring a friend.

TEXT ALERT

Roundwood and district Text Alert Scheme subscription renewal and first time registration. Subscription renewals (€10) are due for the Roundwood Text Alert Scheme. Lorraine at the post office has kindly agreed to accept renewal subscriptions for the scheme. Please place your €10 in a sealed envelope and write your name and mobile number on the outside of the envelope. Leave envelope with Lorraine at post office.

If it’s your first time to register for the text alert, you will need to fill out a registration form (these are also available at the post office) and pay €10 subscription

MENS SHED

If you have a chair or stool or table with a leg or legs in need of repair we will be glad to try and carry out some repair work for you.

One of the shedders has purchased a sewing machine and will be glad to carry out repairs to torn or holed jeans for any needy teenagers.

We would like to express our gratitude to the RDCC for all the help, support and guidance which we receive in the shed. If you are familiar with the new technology you will be able to see some photographs of the shed and the vegetable garden on roundwood.ie or the Face- book page. BARN DANCE

The barn dance and barbecue in aid of Moneystown Community Centre will take place on Saturday, July 29, in the community centre starting at 8.30 p.m. Music is by the Three Bobs (10 p.m. to midnight) and the Roamin Cadillacs (midnight to 2 a.m.) and disco afterwards. BLESSING OF GRAVES

Parish Cemetery Sunday/ Pattern Sunday will take place on Sunday, July 23. Please note the 11.30 a.m. Mass will be Celebrated in Roundwood Cemetery. This Mass will be offered for all interred in the cemetery and will include a blessing of the Graves.

CEILI FIGURE DANCING

Any adults interesting in reliving their youth when we all learned to ceili dance? There are ceili dancing lessons in the Parish Hall in Roundwood on Wednesday nights starting at 8 p.m. for an hour. It’s learning to ceili dance in a fun and friendly manner (solo and group dances). Just come along on the night

45 CARD GAME

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at a new time of 8.30 p.m. Tea served.

SET DANCING

Roundwood set dancing con- tinues every Thursday night from 9 p.m. till 11 p.m. in Kavanagh’s Lounge, Roundwood. Music this month with Michael and Brian. Admission remains at €5. Beginners are always welcome along with anyone looking for a bit of exercise and a fun night out.

HOME PRODUCERS MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market is open every Sunday from midday till 5 p.m. in the Parish Centre. Come for all your fresh bread, home baking, jams etc. There will also be pictures, home crafts, plants and more. We look forward to seeing you all. New members always welcome.

ANGEL HEALING

Why not take two hours out of your week just for you and join us on a Monday evening at 7.30 in the Parish Hall, Roundwood. Here you will be part of a group who know that looking after their well being is so important.

You will learn how to meditate and be still, to connect to your Angels and be supported by the wonderful people who have attended this group in Roundwood for 13 years. So if you would like more information you can contact me Mary Stacey at 087 9819420 or just come along on the night.
