Round­wood Fes­ti­val to de­liver five days jam-packed full of fun

THERE’S some­thing for ev­ery taste at the Round­wood Fes­ti­val with mu­sic ses­sions and side shows in­clud­ing hands on craft ex­hi­bi­tions, fam­ily at­trac­tions, his­tor­i­cal walks and a soap box derby. The fes­ti­val runs from Wed­nes­day, Au­gust 2, through to Sun­day, Au­gust 6.

Wed­nes­day evening kicks off the event with a guided tour of the Vartry Wa­ter Works, which will pro­vide a rare op­por­tu­nity for those at­tend­ing to ac­cess the wa­ter works and a unique in­sight into their his­tory.

While this is a free event, there are lim­ited spa­ces avail­able and peo­ple will have to reg­is­ter their place in ad­vance.

A huge at­trac­tion each year, Thurs­day, sees the re­turn of the Round­wood FunTeam Chal­lenge. The fun ob­sta­cle course will be open to try out and prom­ises to pro­vide some un­usual chal­lenges,

Later in the evening there will be set danc­ing a live mu­sic in Ka­vanagh’s Vartry House.

On the Fri­day a va­ri­ety con­cert takes place in St Lau­rence O’Toole’s Parish Church.

Also on Fri­day, Calary Church will play host to Duo Cha­gall, who to­gether with Lance Coburn, pi­ano, will play pieces by Schu­mann, Ravel and Brahms, as part of the Calary Sum­mer Sea­sons Con­certs.

There will be a hill­walk on the Satur­day and a Teddy Bear’s Pic­nic, as well as a canoe race on the Vartry Reser­voir.

Sun­day is a ded­i­cated Fam­ily Street Fes­ti­val with field day events suit­able for all age groups and mu­sic and danc­ing on site. The Fes­tiv­i­ties will be launched by the Post 21 IUCNVA Colour Party fol­lowed by a vin­tage car pa­rade.

There will be plenty of ac­tion at the Round­wood Fes­ti­val which takes place over five days.
