‘We were well beaten tonight’

-

THERE was no glint in Harry Kenny’s eye on Friday. The Bray Wanderers boss seemed a defeated spirit who offered no excuses for his side’s sapped display against Pat’s.

And he admitted that their meek offerings could be the result of off-field issues taking their toll on his squad.

“It’s quite possible, yeah. We were well beaten tonight as you seen. We got a very good goal - against the run of play I may add. Pat’s were more enthusiastic tonight, (had) more energy and they well deserved their victory.”

Whilst it can’t be easy for the players, it certainly isn’t any easier for the man trying to motivate said players. A few weeks ago, he had dreams of carrying Bray into Europe in 2018. Now, he doesn’t even want to think about next year.

“Very, very difficult (to manage them). We talk about it. It’s human nature that lads’ heads are turned.

“Other clubs have been onto them. They’re not in the right frame of mind and that was probably our worst display of the season. It has to be effecting the lads.

“Beyond that, I just want to get through this season first especially after the last three weeks. I’m only looking towards the end of this season.”

Kenny is confident that there will be a Bray Wanderers in 2018 but will he be a part of it?

“You can’t let a club with that tradition and that history go by the wayside. I’d like to think they’ll still be there – of course they will.”

His use of they, and not us, may suggest not.
