THE largest number of participants yet turned out for the 16th King of Greystones Triathlon last Sunday.

Over 360 competitors from Ireland and beyond lined up for this charity triathlon in aid of The Gavin Glynn Foundation and found themselves at the heart of a wonderful, community-run event set in beautiful scenery.

Organisers have said that the event was

a huge success and have sent a heartfelt ‘ thank you’ to all the 80 volunteers who helped the triathlon run so smoothly. They have also extended special thanks to race director Adam Kelly, Greystones Municipal District, An Garda Siochána, Greystones Coast Guard, Order of Malta and Poseidon Lifesaving Club for keeping everyone safe on the course.

Thanks to the generosity of corporate sponsors Verde Environmental, Glenegry, Tesco Ireland, Goldfish.ie, East Coast FM, O’Gorman Properties and Little Giants Crèche, the costs of running the event were covered and so every entry free was a 100 per cent donation to The Gavin Glynn Foundation.

Although still on a high from Sunday’s fantastic race, organisers are already beginning to make plans for 2018.
