THE GALWAY RACES, RTÉ ONE, THURSDAY 2.05PM

A test of endurance and the depth of a punter’s pocket this week as the seven-day Galway Festival takes centre stage of the Irish racing calendar.

The action commenced on Monday and runs right through until Sunday night with RTE providing coverage.

The two biggest races of the week are the Galway Plate on Wednesday and the Guinness Galway Hurdle Handicap on Thursday.

This is also Ladies Day when the fashion and style is almost as important as the on course racing, with big prizes for the winners - both in the fashion stakes and racing.
