The fourth game before lunch was against St Mary’s Donore in Meath and our girls played with great heart to come out on top.

So with two wins and two narrow defeats they found themselves 3rd in their group.

KNOCKANANNA

Lotto - Numbers drawn: 4, 6, 16, and 26. No match 3s. Lucky dips Ava Mai O’Keeffe, Sharon Byrne, Aine O’Keeffe, Abie Jacob. Sellers prize Willie O’Keeffe. Next week’s jackpot: €4,500.

Knockananna had a great win against Kilbride last Sunday morning in Knockananna, this win leaves us just two points away from promotion.

It was a very nervous start from the lads and didn’t register a score until the 10 minute from the boot of Paddy Byrne, this was after Kilbride took the lead with a well worked goal.

Lorcan Tyrrell rattled the Kilbride net before the break leaving the score 1-05 to 1-02 in favour of Knockananna at the break.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first with both sides trading points and it wasn’t until the introduction of Damien Byrne that we finally got a foothold in the game.

Damien is returning after three months out injured and he was soon back in the groove with brilliant foot passing and superbly taken goal.

Kevin Tyrrell also hit the net and this left us in a comfortable position with ten minutes left on the clock.

But Kilbride weren’t about to roll over and they dominated the remainder of the match scoring 1-02 with out reply leaving the full time score 3-08 to 2-08.

Next up is a winner take all game against Laragh in Aughrim on Saturday evening at 6.45 with a place in the quarter final of the championship up for grabs.

Friday night, August 25, Knockananna GAA club will launch their Super Draw in the Wagon Wheels.

Our top prize is three nights in the Killarney Heights Hotel with two evening meals, sponsored by Eileen Kehoe, formerly of Knockananna.

Also on the list is a €400 Christmas shopping voucher in the Fairgreen complex in Carlow town, an overnight stay in the Ashling Hotel in Dublin plus an evening meal.
