Mile­stone cel­e­bra­tion at Charles­land Golf Club

CHARLES­LAND Golf Club kicked off the cel­e­bra­tions last week as it marks 25 years of busi­ness in north Wick­low.

The club, which has re­cently un­der­gone a €1 mil­lion re­fur­bish­ment, will cel­e­brate its mile­stone year with a serires of golf events through­out Septem­ber and Oc­to­ber as well as a gala evening on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 21.

De­vel­oped by the Evans fam­ily in the 1992, Charles­land Golf Club ap­pointed Carr Golf to op­er­ate on their be­half in 2015, with the in­ten­tion of us­ing their spe­cialised ex­per­tise to im­prove the pre­sen­ta­tion of the course and pro­pel the busi­ness to a new level.

Carr Golf has made a num­ber of new staffing ap­point­ments re­cently to steer the ship.

Join­ing Charles­land from Kill­rud­dery House & Gar­dens, Nikki McHugh has been ap­pointed the Bar and Res­tau­rant Man­ager and has de­vel­oped a new menu to cater for din­ers in the new Pav­il­lion Room, which caters for groups of 10 to 100.

An­drew Curry, who has taken on the role of Di­rec­tor of Golf, has over 15 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence work­ing in the golf in­dus­try and is fo­cussed on driv­ing the de­vel­op­ments of the club on the ground.

New Sales and Mar­ket­ing Man­ager Mark Ruddy is re­spon­si­ble for the mar­ket­ing and com­mu­ni­ca­tions strate­gies at the club and has held pre­vi­ous roles as Golf Events Man­ager in Shar­jah Golf & Shoot­ing Club and work­ing for the UAEPGA as Tour­na­ment Di­rec­tor in the United Arab Emi­rates.

Last year, the club un­veiled a new three-hole academy on the grounds, re­sult­ing in 40 new ju­nior mem­bers.

Lance Evans, Di­rec­tor of Charles­land Golf Course Ltd, said he was proud to see the club reach a land­mark 25 years and happy to see the re­cent changes put in place by Carr Golf to boost the com­pany even fur­ther.

‘ The club has grown from strength to strength, shown re­cently by the record num­ber of new mem­bers who have joined,’ said Mr Evans.

Ed Pet­tit, Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor at Carr Golf said im­prove­ments at the club were mak­ing it an at­trac­tive propo­si­tion for golfers and their fam­i­lies.

‘With re­cent im­prove­ments to the course and fa­cil­i­ties strength­en­ing our of­fer­ing, we are prouder than ever to cel­e­brate 25 years at Charles­land. The new Golf Club is pro­vid­ing mem­bers and visi­tors with a much im­proved of­fer­ing, mak­ing it a great des­ti­na­tion for those look­ing for en­joy­ment with fam­ily and friends or a well-be­ing ex­pe­ri­ence. I have ev­ery con­fi­dence in our tal­ented team in driv­ing for­ward the club for an­other suc­cess­ful 25 years to come,’ said Mr Pet­tit.
