CHAMPIONS

Enniskerry Ladies are to be congratula­ted on making the breakthrou­gh in winning the DwSL division two league.A great achievemen­t winning 11 of their 12 games. The team almost made it a double before going down to Shankill by the odd goal in. Well-done to players and mentors.

INTO FINAL

A single point win over Kiltegan saw Enniskerry Junior Footballer­s reach the County Junior B Final. A blistering start by the Black and Amber lads was the key to their success. Rathnew are the team waiting for Enniskerry in the final.

WALKERS.

The Enniskerry Walkers have just ended another very good season of walks without any hitches. The season of walks starts on September 19 from Windsors Spar opposite the Town Clock.

Once again Enniskerry people came to the aide of one of their own with two fundraiser­s for Ben Melia. A full house turned out for the Golf Outing and the Raffle/ Cabaret was also was a huge success.

DARTS

Powerscour­t Arms Dart team have a serious start to the new season by practices and friendly matches. Manager/Captain Joe Walsh has insisted on full turnouts before the start of the league next month.

Important Notice – St Mary’s and St Gerard’s School car park: For security reasons the Enniskerry school car park must be closed after 11 a.m. Mass in St Mary’s. Can you ensure that if you are the last person leaving the car park after 11 a.m. Mass that you close the gate. Your help is much appreciate­d.

Monthly Rosary Group: Meets on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Prayer Room in St Mary’s Church.

The Enniskerry History Society is on summer Recess till meetings resume shortly.

GLENCREE PEACE WALK

This Sunday the inaugural Glencree Peace Walk will take place to coincide with Internatio­nal Day of Peace.

A group of friends of the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconcilia­tion will be walking from Glencullen to Glencree to raise much needed funds to support our peacebuild­ing work and to highlight the need for alternativ­es to violence to resolve conflict. The walk will take place between midday and 5 p.m.

The walk will consist of a 10km stretch of the well-marked Wicklow Way from Glencullen to Glencree, shortened by a bus transfer at the end to the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconcilia­tion. Walkers will gather at the Boranaralt­ry Bridge 3km west of Glencullen village off the R116. After the walk, there will be refreshmen­ts at the Glencree Centre, and a bus transfer back to Glencullen.
