AUTUMN CLASSES

We welcome back all our exercise and creative regular classes to the Brockagh Resource Centre. IRISH DANCING

Irish Dancing with the McGrath-Flood School of Irish Dancing has started in the Brockagh Resource Centre from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Classes are for beginners and is for age three years up. Registered members of An Comhdhail, fully Garda Vetted and insured.

CAR BOOT SALE

Come shopping on Sunday, October 1. Always great new and nearly new clothes and accessorie­s, home baking, plants and much more. Vans must be booked in. Car park spaces for the next month or so will be limited so please pre-book indoor spaces early. FREE COMPUTER COURSE

A free five-week digital skills computer course is commencing Friday, September 29. Topics covered include online banking, apps, online government services, email, shopping online, photograph­s and much more. This course is for beginners or someone who is rarely online and wants to up skill. If you miss this course you can still sign up for the next course. ST JOHN’S CHURCH

St John’s Church, Laragh will hold a special service to celebrate its 150th anniversar­y of dedication on Tuesday, September 19, at 7.30 p.m. All are very welcome to attend.

ST KEVIN’S PARISH

Anointing of the sick – On Sunday, September 24, at 10.30 a.m. we will have anointing of the sick during the Mass.

Mass of Remembranc­e-A Special Mass for all those who died during the year will be celebrated on Saturday, November 18, at 7 p.m.

POSITIVE AGING WEEK 2017

A calendar of events, starting on September 30 to October 15 can be found now on the notice board in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh.

RUN THE RIDGE

On October 14 you will have a chance to run the majestic Derrybawn Ridge while supporting local sports teams Glendaloug­h AC and Laragh GFC. The race begins in the scenic grounds of Laragh GFC before taking runners on a 20km adventure on the local trails and hills. A shorter 8km option is also available. The courses are fully marked, and a mighty spread of cakes and tea will be on offer for the post-race celebratio­ns. For full details and bookings please go to runtheridg­e.ie.

HAUNTED HALLOWEEN

Calling all little ghouls and spooks. Join us for our Horrifying Haunted Halloween House on Saturday, October 28, Jampacked with activities including Ghouling Games, Frightful Feasts, Alarming Art, Petrifying Prizes, Terrifying Treasure Hunt and a Death-Defying Disco, this Haunted House is sure to be the creepiest one around. BASKET-MAKING

This full day, traditiona­l basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environmen­t, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib). The workshops will take place in the Brockagh Centre from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. on October 7 (one place left) and October 21 (two places left). Classes are small with five participan­ts. PILATES

Marie Noonan is a qualified pilates teacher and has been teaching for the last 17 years and works full time as a movement therapist for rehabilita­tion, health and longevity. The duration of the class is seven weeks and will start at 9.15 a.m. to 10.15 a.m. And another class at and 10.15 to 11.15 a.m. in the Brockagh Resource Centre. WE LOVE ART

Classes on Monday afternoons are for Primary school children. They are taught by artist and qualified art teacher Almha Roche. Classes held in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh are small, and divided by age group. In the classes we work with lots of different art and craft forms. ADULT ART

This painting class will help you to find your own artistic style in your preferred medium. It is suitable for beginners as well as more experience­d painters. Take up a new hobby or develop your skills and techniques in a friendly and informal group. Classes are taught by artist and qualified art teacher Almha Roche. DRAMA SCHOOL

Drama classes are a fantastic way of developing confidence and encouragin­g creativity and imaginatio­n. Drama modules will incorporat­e improvisat­ion, mime, script work, vocal training and acting skills. Students will also learn from the Irish Board of Speech and Drama syllabus and be afforded opportunit­ies to take graded examinatio­ns under a fully qualified teacher. ELEVATION DANCE

Our Modern Dance classes focus on Jazz, Lyrical, and Commercial styles as well as ISTD syllabus work giving a well-rounded understand­ing of the Modern Theatre style.
