Admitted dumping waste
A woman who admitted responsibility for dumping household waste was fined € 250.
Mary Kinlan (44) 24 Richmond Hill, Fassaroe appeared recently at Bray District Court.
The court heard that bags were dumped at Fassaroe containing household waste and ashes from a fire.
The inspector found documents relating to Ms Kinlan’s daughter, who resides elsewhere.
The council wrote to the daughter asking her to attend a meeting. Ms Kinlan then made contact and accepted responsibility. Another interview was arranged and she attended.
Solicitor Brendan Maloney said that Ms Kinlan has had an extremely difficult and turbulent number of years. He said that her circumstances have improved in recent times through engagement with services. Lidl has been granted permission by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council to develop the Shankill Shopping Centre site.
The application was made last May and 14 submissions have been made since then.
The plans include the redevelopment of the existing retail unit as well as a number of new standalone units, a café, créche and medical centre.
The supermarket giant held a public consultation day last April in advance of submitting their plans to the local authority.
In submissions made regarding the development, a number of local people asked that the centre retain its apex roof so that the centre retains a neighbourhood feel in the middle of the village.
Other concerns raised in the submissions to Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council include increased traffic, and lack of parking.
Lidl said in a statement that the existing centre does not live up to contemporary retail standards and that the redevelopment of the site will mean ‘an attractive, high quality shopping environment.’
Existing mature trees on the site have been integrated they said, while further planting is planned.
They said that a traffic assessment shows that the development will have a minimal impact upon the existing situation.
