Bollarney set for 32 new houses
TÚATH social housing scheme could be complete by September of next year and will be delivered through the Department of Housing CALF Scheme. Last week sod turned on 30 new homes in Rathdrum, with further schemes set to be announced.
Minister Simon Harris has announced 32 new social houses for Wicklow town.
The development will be constructed at Bollarney and will be delivered through the Department of Housing CALF Scheme with Túath.
The homes are turnkey acquisitions and it is expected that they will be available by September 2018 following completion.
Speaking on Wednesday, Minister Harris said; ‘ this is a really positive development for Wicklow Town. These houses are being acquired through the CALF Scheme run by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government with Túath Housing. The Depart- ment are investing €2.9 million to deliver these homes for people on the housing waiting list.
‘I am really pleased that we are now starting to see progress on a number of schemes to increase private and social housing in Co Wicklow. Just last week, we turned the sod on 20 new houses for Rathdrum to be delivered in September 2018 also.’
Cllr John Snell, the Chair of Wicklow County Council’s Housing SPC, also welcomed the announcement.
‘It’s great news, especially considering the high demand for social housing in east Wicklow. The Council already has a working relationship with Túath in other parts of the county.
‘ The sooner the development starts the better. It is exciting that there are now housing projects coming to fruition because there are so many families out there looking for accommodation,’ said Cllr Snell.
