LEAVING/JUNIOR CERT

Congratulations to all our students in the Leaving Certificate Class of 2017. The results this year represent an outstanding achievement for all concerned. The average achieved by this Leaving Certificate group is 489 CAO points per student and 48% of the student body attaining in excess of 500 points.

Our Junior Certificate students (now Transition Years) also acquitted themselves extremely well in the State Examinations with students attaining grades in excess of seven honours per student on higher level examination papers. Their commitment and dedication to their studies has paid dividends. Well done on this superb achievement.

Overall the results this year are the combination of a myriad of factors however to the fore would be;

The hard work, commitment and dedication of our students. The dedication of the teachers, the quality of the teaching in the classroom and our shared vision of educational excellence. The positive engagement, encouragement and support of the parents. The belief through our Patron Saint, St Gerard Majella, that all things are possible through a confident faith and a zeal for hard work.

We wish the class of 2017 every success and the best of luck on their career paths and we look forward to welcoming them back to St Gerard’s School in the future.

TRANSITION YEAR NEWS

Having received their Junior Certificate results the Transition Years headed off to Lough Dan on the annual camping trip.

Three gruesome days roughing it in the great outdoors, climbing some of the highest mountains in Leinster and fending for oneself in the wild.

It isn’t everybody’s idea of fun when you consider the cool evening weather conditions. However, the glorious days made up for it. It is a trip which has many shared happy memories and a trip that they all remember with great fondness into the future.
