CHRISTMAS FAIR
Our Christmas Fair in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh is on this year on December 10 with lots of special gifts. PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID
The Brockagh Centre is delighted to be able to offer a fantastic evening of paediatric first aid on Monday, October 16 (7 p.m. to 9 p.m.). Run by the highly acclaimed ‘Parent First Aid’ company, this popular, informative evening will cover all basic first aid required in the care of children including choking, burns, meningitis, breaks/fractures, CPR, bleeding and more. CHANGES TO MASS TIMES
There have been a number of changes to local Mass times. Sunday Mass in Laragh is now at 10.30 a.m. The Saturday (Vigil) Mass is at 7 p.m.
REMEMBRANCE MASSES
A Mass of remembrance for those who died during the year will take place in St Kevin’s church in Laragh at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 18. Similar ceremonies will take place in Roundwood at 6 p.m. on November 4 and in Rathdrum at 8 p.m. on November 11.
FLOWER CLASSES
A series of flower classes are being planned for the autumn at the Brockagh Centre. The sessions can cover everything from basic methods to modern designs for a variety of occasions. The teaching team will facilitate the requirements of the participants and focus on the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside. TIDY TOWNS
We are patiently awaiting the results of the Tidy Town judges. Barry Byrne, along with a number of volunteers, is doing a great job keeping the village clean. However, it is so frustrating to have to pick up bags of rubbish all the time. Please use the many bins provided in the village. The next clean-up of the Laragh area is planned for Saturday seven th October at 11 a.m.
IRISH DANCING
Irish Dancing has started in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Classes are for beginners and is for age three years up. CAR BOOT SALES
Come shopping on Sunday, October 1. Always great new and nearly new clothes and accessories, home baking, plants and much more. Vans must be booked in. Car park spaces for the next month or so will be limited so please pre-book indoor spaces early. RURAL TRANSPORT
If you wish to avail of this service on Friday mornings call Mick Dunbar (087 8176630). Mick drives to Wicklow or Arklow (destination depending on the week) for shopping trips.
ACTIVE RETIREMENT
The Active Retirement group were back after their summer break Tuesday, September 12. They enjoyed their morning exercise session and a catch up over a cup of tea and cake. David and Francis from Aughrim Bowling Facility attended the centre for a bowling session Tuesday the 19th, everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. We’re looking forward to our next bowling session in October.
Next week we are having a talk and demonstration on flowers and we are also having a meeting to discuss further day trips, outings and our midweek getaway next April/May. Our next lunch is on October 3 in Jacobs Well Rathdrum. We have a shopping trip planned for November 28. There will be a pre – Christmas Tea Dance on Sunday, November 19, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., groups must book in advance with the Brockagh Centre by calling us at 0404 45600.
A reminder new members are always welcome to the Active Retirement Group, why not come along to the Brockagh Centre on a Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. for some exercise and social gatherings.
HAUNTED HALLOWEEN
Calling all little ghouls and spooks. Join us for our Horrifying Haunted Halloween House on Saturday, October 28.
Day will be jam-packed with activities including Ghouling Games, Frightful Feasts, Alarming Art, Petrifying Prizes, Terrifying Treasure Hunt and a Death-Defying Disco, this Haunted House is sure to be the creepiest one around. BASKET-MAKING
This full day, traditional basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environment, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib). The workshops will take place in the Brockagh Centre from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. on October 7 (one place left) and October 21 (two places left). Classes are small with five participants. FITNESS DANE
Just pop in on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre to dance your socks off with Adam and the class in cardio exercise dancing, dropping those extra calories. You do not need to be a good dancer or very fit, dance at your own pace and enjoy the music. You can contact Adam at 083 3057949 for information.
EVENING YOGA
Viva’s yoga classes are for beginners to advance on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre. Wear comfortable clothes on the night and bring a blanket. Mats are available on the night. You can contact Viva at 086 3409629 for more information.
CITIZEN’S INFORMATION
The Citizens Information Centre at the Brockagh Resource Centre is open for information relating to your rights and entitlements from 10 a.m. till midday on the first and third Tuesday of each month. No appointment is necessary for this free and confidential service.
WALKING GROUP
On Monday mornings weekly at 10 a.m. join a walking group at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around Glendalough area for approximately one hour. In association with Get Ireland Walking, Wicklow Local Sports Partnership and Brockagh Resource Centre. All ages and abilities are welcome.
