World Mission Sunday Collection: This Sunday Pope Francis invites all Catholics to contribute to a special collection, the Mission Sunday collection. World Missions Ireland is the Holy Father’s official charity for overseas mission and is responsible for co-ordinating Mission Sunday in Ireland.
Strictly Come Dancing Night: St Catherine’s Special School, Newcastle, Co. Wicklow, are hosting a Strictly Come Dancing night on Saturday, November 11, in Fitzpatrick’s Castle Hotel Killiney, Co. Dublin. We are fundraising for some much needed playground equipment for the kiddies and all donations big or small would be greatly received. We have some local Enniskerry residents who very bravely took on the challenge and are flat out rehearsing at the moment for the big event. Altar List of the Dead: Sheets and envelopes are available at the back of the church. Please complete the sheet and return in envelope to sacristy, parish office or leave on the collection basket on Sunday. Masses are offered for those whose names are on the Altar List of the Dead on the First Friday of each month.
Annual Mass For Parishioners Who Died In the Last Year: This year’s annual Mass for parishioners who died in the last year will be celebrated on Friday, November 10, at 7.30 p.m. in St Mary’s Parish Church. This is a special celebration where loved ones are remembered andthe parish community comes together to support the bereaved families.
Monthly Rosary Group: Meets on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Prayer Room in St Mary’s Church.
Legion of Mary – Kilmacanogue Presidium: Meet at 11.30 a.m. every Tuesday in the sacristy of St Mochonog’ s. New members are most welcome. Group recite the Rosary on the first Saturday of each month at midday at the Grotto in the church grounds. Click on the link legionofmary.ie to view website.

HISTORY SOCIETY
Last Thursday night Tommy O’Rourke opened the 3-lecture autumn programme of the Enniskerry History Society at 8.30 p.m. in the Powerscourt Arms and Country House Hotel in the village, at which he presented his lecture on’ Hedge Schools in Wicklow’ which looked at this unique form education system under which students paid teachers for tuition till replaced by the introduction of the National School system in the 1830s.
Events coming up which May be of interest to members include; tonight’s (Wednesday) 8 p.m. lecture by Cormac Lowth on’ The History of Dun Laoghaire Harbour – aspects of the harbour over the past two hundred years’ to the Dun Laoghaire Borough Historical Society in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire – admission €3; tomorrow (Thursday) nights 8 p.m. lecture on ‘Irish Demesne Landscapes, 1660-1740’ by Ms Vandra Costello to the Bray Cualann Historical Society in the Royal Hotel, Bray – admission €5, or the 8 p.m. lecture by Michael Fewer on ‘Famine Roads’ to the Greystones Archaeological and Historical Society in the Family Centre beside the Holy Rosary Church, Greystones ; and next Wednesday night’s 6 p.m. lecture by Vincent Ruddy on ‘Pre-Famine Dublin: A Calamity Waiting to Happen?’ to the Old Dublin Society in the Conference Room of Dublin City Library and Archive, 138-144 Pearse Street, Dublin two. The next meeting of the Enniskerry History Society takes place on Thursday, November 9, at 8.30 p.m. in the Powerscourt Arms and Country House Hotel, Enniskerry Village at which Rob Goodbody will present his lecture ‘The Martello Towers of the Dublin Coastline.’ Built in the early 1800s to warn the authorities in Dublin of an approaching French invasion force, which could only land on Killiney Beach as this was only one suitable to land an invasion force on, these structures, most of which still survive, extended from Bray to Sandymount. All welcome – admission €5.

Opening hours are as follows: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. And 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. St Mary’s and St Gerard’s NS annual Spooky Walk will take place this Saturday. This is a very enjoyable family event and everyone is welcome – the PA Committee of the parents’ association St Mary’s and St Gerard’s NS, Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow.
