Probation report ordered for Gorey husband and wife

-

JUDGE David Kennedy ordered a probation report on a husband and wife who appeared before Arklow District Court last Wednesday, October 18.

Robert Tancred, 16 Woodbury, Gorey faced charges of drink driving and failing to produce a drivers licence or insurance.

Vicky Tancred, 16 Woodbury, Gorey, was charged with being intoxicated in public and using threatening and abusive behaviour in a public place.

On May 15, 2016, at Ferrybank, Arklow, at around 2 a.m. a garda patrol car witnessed a vehicle stop at a roundabout and then drive through at speed.

They stopped the car and found Robert Tancred behind the wheel. There was a strong smell of alcohol from his breath and he was arrested for drink driving.

His wife, Vicky Tancred, was in the front passenger seat and became very aggressive and abusive toward the gardai. She wouldn’t calm down and was placed in hand cuffs. After being brought to Arklow Garda Station, she spat at the gardai and was placed in a cell.

Mr Tancred had a reading of 62 mgs of alcohol in his blood. Defence solicitor, David Tarrant, said Mr Tancred is 25 and Mrs Tancred aged 29. They have five children. While Mr Tancred has had past problems, he is now drug free.

Judge Kennedy remanded both on continuing bail until January 17 2018 and also ordered the preparation of probation reports.
