There was no jackpot winner last week, the numbers were 17, 19, 22 and 23. There were six match-three winners each receiving €40. The jackpot stands at €6,200 the next draw is on Monday, October 23, in the Castle Inn.

The club would like to wish Alex Heffernan and Stephen O’Toole all the best on their travels to Canada, Have fun, miss the village and come back soon, and stay safe guys.

FITNESS TRANSFORMA­TION

Calorie Blitz class is on Mondays at 7 p.m. Strength and Conditioni­ng class is on Wednesday at 7 p.m. New members are always welcome contact Colly Yeoman at 087 9024045.

ATTEMPTED BREAK-IN

There was an attempted breakin at Newcastle garage on Saturday morning at 12.50 a.m., The camera shows two young men smashing the door and trying to gain access to the shop. If anyone saw anything at this time please contact Newtown Garda Station.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

Badminton takes place every Tuesday at 8.30 p.m. New members are always welcome and it’s a great way to keep fit.

GOLF OUTING

The golf outing raised over €1,300 for the community centre. Turkey Doyle’s team playing for Johnny Watchorn’s Newcastle Shop were the winners in a competitiv­e outing. A big thanks to all the sponsors and prize givers and to Mick Daly for all his hard and selfless work. The big man was up at 5 a.m. cooking ham and making sandwiches for the outing.

HALLOWEEN KIDS PARTY

There will be a Halloween Fancy dress party for local kids in the community centre on Tuesday, October 31, from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Please support the community centre as it is a vital component of the community and in the words of Joni Mitchell ‘that you dont know what you’ve got till its gone.

COUNTRY MARKET

The North Wicklow country market takes place in the community centre every Saturday from 10 a.m.

THE CASTLE INN

Model box Drama group second preformanc­e of ‘Another Life’ received rave reviews from last Saturdays performanc­e upstairs in the Castle Inn. Its a thought provoking play about a women’s battle with the Big C and flirtation with assisted sucicide. The play is grim, sad and not without black humour. Model box now take the play on the all-Ireland one act festival circuit.

There was also a play on the night by Martello Production­s called ‘Ghosts of Bedlam’ this will also be on the circuit.

The restaurant is open this Saturday the 28th, music in the lounge from 10.30 p.m. till late with the Remedy Club.

The annual Halloween fancy dress party is on Sunday the 29th with DJ Ken, The theme is 1980s TV and Movie stars, prizes for the best dressed.

The Castle Inn and the Doyle family would like to pass their condolence­s to the Donnelly family on the sad passing of a good friend John, who died tragically on Saturday. John was county secretary of the Wicklow ploughing society and a big part of life in the Kilmaconog­ue area, he was also a very close friend to the family. He only recently celebrated his 50th wedding anniversar­y to his devoted wife Mary. Our thoughts are with Mary, daughters Fiona and Orla and extended family. May he rest in peace.

STRICTLY COME DANCING

St Catherine’s Special School, Newcastle are hosting a Strictly Come Dancing night on Saturday, November 11, in Fitzpatric­k’s Castle Hotel Killiney, Co. Dublin. We are fundraisin­g for some much needed playground equipment for the kiddies and all donations big or small would be greatly received.
