LORETO GIRLS OF THE CLASS OF 1987 GATHER AT THE HARBOUR BAR

- BY MARY FOGARTY

The Loreto girls of the class of 87 gathered at the Harbour Bar recently for their reunion.

There was a great turn out for the celebration, 30 years since they all finished school.

The women got a chance to catch up with people, some of whom they hadn’t seen since graduating. Others had remained in touch over the years. Ciara Douglas (Nolan), Barbara Worwood (Bermingham) and Deirdre Casey (Mcelroy) organised the event.

They got a good response to their appeal for people to come along, and in the end around 40 people out of a year of 60 attended the reunion.

Lisa McDonald travelled from Vienna and Gillian Greene came from the UK, with one or two coming from counties such as Kildare and Lought.

Otherwise, the women there were from Bray, County Wicklow and Dublin.

Ciara said that everyone had an absolutely brilliant night.

‘I’d give the Harbour bar 10 out of 10,’ she said. ‘ They really went out of their way for us. That included a cocktail for everyone on arrival. Many of the former Loreto students brought pictures with them on the night, and they enjoyed a trip down memory lane looking at the photographic record of their school days.

This was the second big reunion. They also had a 20-year reunion in 2007.

The women went to the Martello afterwards and said that they were treated like royalty for the entire event.
