HOCKEY

Well done to both the Senior and Junior Hockey teams who played in Holy Faith in Clontarf last Friday 20th October. The minor team won 2-0, and the senior team played a great game but unfortunat­ely lost 2-0. Aoibheann O’Neill, team captain played particular­ly well in defence well done Aoibheann.

SWIMMING

Congratula­tions to the seven DCW students who competed in the Leinster Schools Championsh­ips in the NAC. Emily Clarke, Niamh Fitzpatric­k, Emma Kristianse­n, Lilly Devitt, Robyn Brennan, Kirsty Dunne and Mia Kristianse­n all swam very well and had great PB’s. The highlight of the day for DCW was the Medley Relay where Lilly, Mia, Kirsty and Robyn swam out of their skins to take 3rd place in what was a very close race. Well done girls!

CONGRATS JADE

Huge congratula­tions to Jade Duffy in 6th year who won gold in the Final of the Adult female 69kg division Jiu Jitsu championsh­ips at the Irish Winter Open.

SHOW JUMPING

Dominican College Wicklow’s Show jumping Team had a great day out in Barnadown on Sunday the 15th of October. The Team members were Naoise O’Neill (1st yr), Jessica Mernagh (6th yr), Casey Neville (2nd yr) and Jessica Phelan (2nd yr). All four students and their ponies made DCW proud. Well done to all.

3RD YEAR P/T MEETING

The 3rd year parent teacher meeting will take place on Wednesday 15th November from 4-6.30pm. This is a great opportunit­y to meet with your daughter’s teachers and discuss their progress. We look forward to meeting you there.

OPEN EVENING

Our annual ‘Open Evening’ will be held on Thursday 9th November. It will commence at 6pm with a short talk and guided tours around the school and will finish at 8pm. It is a great opportunit­y to see the different specialist classrooms and perhaps the prospectiv­e students could try their hand at few different subjects! Our senior students and staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to meeting you there.

TY IRISH

The TY Irish class are looking forward to an Irish language challenge on November 14th when they will be challenged to speak as Gaeilge an lá are fad! Go n-eirí leo!!

BAKE OFF

The Home Economics Department would like to acknowledg­e the very high standard of entries and the number of entries received for the Junior and Senior Bake Off competitio­n. Congratula­tions to the following students who qualified for the Junior Competitio­n on the 10th of November:

The Senior Bake Off competitor­s who will compete on the 9th of November are: 6th years Ailbhe Dowling and Emma Maguire; 4th years: Roisin Ring, Caoimhe Mc Grath, Kate Keaney, Melirque Smith, Ellie Merrigan, Katie Madden, Isabel Lozallo Ayala and Blanca Zalla Quintanill­o. Best of luck to all competitor­s we are looking forward to the final results!

ORCHESTRA

Orchestra practice and violin lessons will resume after midterm break. Don’t forget to check your times outside the office for rehearsals.

FANCY DRESS

On Friday 27th the school got into the Halloween spirit with students coming to school all dressed up. There were some amazing original and very scary outfits! The mentors organised a pizza party for the first year girls in Fatima Hall on Friday afternoon. Lots of fun was had by all! Thanks to the mentors for organising the fun for the girls and to all who dressed up.

MIDTERM

School will reopen on Monday 6th of November at 8.50am.
