SQUARE ONE PRESENTS ‘THE CRUCIBLE’ Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray 7.30 p.m. nightly, Wednesday, November 8, to Saturday, November 11

Arthur Miller’s ‘The Crucible’ is a dramatised and partially fictionali­sed story of the infamous Salem witch trials. It was inspired by the 1950s McCarthy hearings that aimed to root out communists and continues to affect audiences by allowing them to see how hidden agendas can be played out. Tickets cost €18 and are available from the Mermaid Arts Centre.

AN EVENING WITH MICK HANLY AND DONAL LUNNY Whale Theatre, Greystones 8 p.m. on Friday, November 10

Donal Lunny, the wry, inquisitiv­e troubadour, has helped to drag Ireland’s traditiona­l music kicking and reeling into the 21st century with the likes of the ground-breaking Planxty and the even-more-groundbrea­king Moving Hearts. It was in the latter that he teamed up with another music icon, Mick Hanly, and together, they present a night of old favourites and new sensations. Tickest cost €25 and are available from the Whale Theatre.

Three women of different ages from Dublin’s inner city, imprisoned for drug offences, have made a world of sorts for themselves, one with its own desperate rules and convention­s. But their world within a world collapses when an apparently naïve country woman, found guilty of murder, is sent to share their cell. Tickets are available from the Courthouse and cost €14.

This special arts and heritage exhibition will allow an opportunit­y to view some of the work of a number of local up and coming artists as well as the work of some profession­als in the area. Guests can also peruse some historical documents relating to the village and its surrounds. Free admission.

TOMMY HALFERTY TRIO Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, November 11

The Tommy Halferty Trio, one of Ireland’s leading jazz groups, will present exciting new compositio­ns from their forthcomin­g album ‘Station Midi’. Jazz guitarist anc composer Halferty’s latest project features one of Ireland’s leading rhythm sections, Dave Redmond on double-bass and Kevin Brady on drums. Tickets, cost €14, and are available from the Courthouse.

Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray 7 p.m.on Wednesday, November 15

Painter Mary Duffy received an Arts and Disability Connect Bursary and spent over a year working with artist and mentor Donald Teskey as she negotiated a move from being an artist who primarily worked outdoors to one who is now at ease in her studio. LAUNCH OF ‘BEYOND THE PALE’ EXHIBITION Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 19

Jacinta Crowley-Long is a leading profession­al Irish painter of canine, equestrian and landscape paintings. Most of her landscape subjects are found in the, fields and hills on the Wicklow Way near where she lives. Exhibition runs until Friday, December 15, from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays to Saturdays.

Greystones Players present ‘Connection­s’ – a diverse and entertaini­ng evening of four one-act plays, exploring variations on love, relationsh­ips and our expectatio­ns of theatre. The programme includes While the Auto Waits, adapted from O. Henry’s short story by Walter Wykes; Sure Thing by David Ives; the amusing and poignant Post-Its by Paul Dooley and Winnie Holzman; and Audience, Michael Frayn’s clever and comic examinatio­n of the nature of theatre. Neil Delamere tells the story of how his dad once asked him to help deliver the Meals on Wheels. He agreed, little knowing that their lives would never be the same again... except the bits of their lives that didn’t change. Tickets cost €22 and are available from the Courthouse.

TOMMY FLEMING IN CONCERT St Joseph’s Church, Baltinglas­s 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 30

After 25 years performing to audiences around the globe, Tommy Fleming is bringing his unique voice and style to Baltinglas­s. Doors will open at 7 p.m. Tickets cost €30 and are available from the parish office or from O’Reilly’s, Burke’s Newsagents and Centra.
