GAA CLUB NOTES

Unfortunately our senior team lost out to Annacurra and will not now progress to next week’s Keating Trophy final but a draw between Tinahely and Bray ensured that Newtown will maintain their senior status for next season.

Our juvenile presentation will be taking place in the community centre when all our teams have finished out their season we have no date yet as the under-13s are still playing, but it will be around mid-November.

The under-13 shield semi-final against Clara Gaels was cancelled prior to bank holiday due to the weather and is to be rescheduled it is unlikely to be this weekend but please check fixtures to confirm date and time.

Hard luck to Pearce Gaels, who lost to Rathnew in the final of the U 17 B championship last week; well done to all on a good year especially our own lads Joe McDonald, James Synnott, Lee Turner, Cian Walsh, Adam Heffernan and Conor Odlum.

There will be a foundation course running in Roundwood on Thursday16th and Thursday, November 23, For any of our current crop of fantastic coaches or those with an interest in coaching in the future. Please let us know and we’ll sign you up, could all the juvenile managers/mentors please get a report to the club secretary for inclusion in this year’s yearbook asap.

Christmas will soon be upon us so if you want to buy Newtown GAA merchandise get your order in early as there are always delays around the festive time. There is a good stock of club gear now available to buy for any enquiries regarding club gear please contact Amy at 086 3332195.

Tickets for the national draw will be available shortly and as usual all money raised by the club goes to the club so if you’d like to buy or maybe even sell a few tickets please get in touch with any committee member. Tickets are great value at only €10 each.

Huge congratulations to Kyle and Niamh Martin on last week’s lotto win; enjoy your winnings (€7600) and many thanks for supporting the club. Five more lucky winners took home €40 as they matched three numbers. Numbers drawn were 10, 16, 21 and 24, this week’s jackpot was €2,000.
