Seniors Christmas party seeks donations from the community
A Christmas party is being held on December 3 for the senior citizens of Bray and organisers are looking for donations towards the event.
For the past 15 years a committee has organised a party for the older people.
The aim of the party is to bring the senior citizens from all over Bray together for a full day of social interaction.
Most of those invited to the event are experiencing isolation, living along, have mobility issues or have recently lost a family member.
There are over 250 guest invited each year for Christmas dinner and drinks, a raffle and an afternoon of entertainment provided by the Garda Band, and other groups such as The Berry School of Dance and Le Cheile Community Choir.
The party relies on financial sponsorship from Bray’s business sector and sometimes from outside Bray, the court services, and people’s generosity.
This sponsorship pays for the meal, hire of catering equipment, decorations and a raffle. Transport to and from the event is kindly provided free of charge by Ger Maloney and drivers from MT Cabs. The committee organising the party is made up of representatives working in the resource centres based in Oldcourt and Little Bray as well as representatives from the Garda Community Policing Unit.
Donations and sponsorship can be dropped to Bray Garda Station for the attention of Garda Adam Nolan. Receipts for all donations and gifts will be provided.
