Rathcoyle take top spot again

More Tráth na gCeist success

-

ON behalf of Wicklow Allianz Cumann na mBunscol we would like to thank all the schools, children, teachers and parents who took part in another thoroughably enjoyable night in Lynhams of Laragh on the 16th November.

Thanks also to the staff of Lynhams who had the place set up so well for the event. Schools represented on the night were Annacurra, Kilcoole, Scoil Chualann, Scoil Naomh Iósaf Baltinglass, Rathcoyle NS, St Patrick’s NS, Wicklow and Moneystown NS.

52 children took part and they have to be commended on their sporting participation and huge knowledge of the topics covered.

There were eight rounds in total with ten questions in each round.

Topics were varied, with newsrounds, general sports, GAA, Wicklow, pictures, nicknames and a general knowledge round.

Such was the knowledge of the children on the night the organisers were twice to concede mistakes in their corrections!

In all it was a very enjoyable night, the top three teams being split by a mere two point gap.

Kilcoole had two teams in the top three. But for the third year running Rathcoyle NS claimed the title as Cumann na mBunscol, Tráth na gCeist Champions.

There were numerous spot prizes on the night generously donated by the schools so there were plenty of happy faces leaving Lynhams on Thursday night. We hope to see them, and many more, next November!

It’s time for the hurleys to come inside!

There was successful indoor hurling blitzes this week. In Shoreline in Greystones St. Laurence’s had three teams, Kilcoole and Newtown had one.

There were some fantastic skills on show and everyone had a great day.

There will be more indoor hurling this week starting 20th November in regional centres.

(Your school will be contacted regarding which day you will be attending)
